Colpotrophine enthält als Wirkstoff Promestrien, ein synthetisches Östrogen (weibliches Geschlechtshormon), das direkt auf die Schleimhaut in der Scheide (Vagina) und im äusseren Scheidenbereich (Vulva) einwirkt.
Colpotrophine wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder Ärztin verwendet, wenn die Schleimhaut in der Scheide und im äusseren Bereich wegen eines Östrogenmangels dünner geworden ist und es deshalb zu entzündlichen Erscheinungen mit Brennen und Juckreiz, Trockenheit sowie Schmerzen beim Geschlechtsverkehr kommt. Ein Östrogenmangel kann während und nach den Wechseljahren, nach Bestrahlungen und evt. nach einer Geburt oder Operation auftreten.
Colpotrophine stimuliert den Wiederaufbau der rückgebildeten Schleimhaut und lindert die erwähnten Beschwerden. Sein Wirkstoff wird durch die Schleimhaut hindurch praktisch nicht aufgenommen.
Colpotrophine darf in folgenden Fällen nicht angewendet werden:
wenn Sie überempfindlich gegenüber dem Wirkstoff oder den Konservierungsmitteln (Paraben) reagieren, dürfen Sie Colpotrophine nicht anwenden,
wenn krebsverdächtige Veränderungen in der Brust oder an den Geschlechtsorganen bestehen oder vermutet werden, wenn ein blutiger Ausfluss unbekannter Ursache besteht.
Bei bestimmungsgemässem Gebrauch sind keine besonderen Vorsichtsmassnahmen zu befolgen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker, bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden (Externa)!
Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, dürfen Sie Colpotrophine nicht anwenden. Verwenden Sie Colpotrophine in der Stillzeit nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt.
Der Arzt entscheidet die individuelle Dosis für jede Patientin.
Colpotrophine ist in Form von Vaginalkapseln erhältlich und wirkt lokal in der Scheide.
Im Allgemeinen ist die gebräuchliche Dosierung folgendermassen:
1 Vaginalkapsel wird pro Tag während 20 Tagen (oder länger, gemäss Anweisung des Arztes) möglichst tief in die Scheide eingeführt, in Rückenlage.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Colpotrophine auftreten: Gelegentlich kann Brennen oder Juckreiz auftreten.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Colpotrophine ist ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern, in der Originalpackung, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und vor Licht geschützt aufzubewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
