Evit dient zur Behandlung von Vitamin-E-Mangelzuständen, die ernährungsmässig nicht behoben werden können sowie zur Ergänzung bei schlechter Aufnahme aus der Nahrung und bei erhöhtem Bedarf.
Vitamin E kommt vor allem im Fleisch, im Eidotter und in ölhaltigen Samen und Körnern vor. Ohne diese kann der tägliche Bedarf nicht gedeckt werden. Enthält die Nahrung vorwiegend ungesättigte Fettsäuren (z.B. Fischöle), so steigt der Vitamin E- Bedarf. Patienten mit chronischen Erkrankungen der Leber, Gallenwege und Bauchspeicheldrüse nehmen Vitamin E schlecht aus der Nahrung auf und haben deshalb einen erhöhten Bedarf.
Es ist bekannt, dass Vitamin E die Zellen gegen vorzeitige Zerstörung durch aggressive Schadstoffe (freie Radikale) aus Umwelt und Stoffwechsel schützt. Es ist auch am Aufbau des Bindegewebes, der Blutgefässe und der Muskulatur beteiligt.
Vitamin E ist fettlöslich, es wird deshalb im Darm besser aufgenommen, wenn die Nahrung etwas Fett enthält. Ein Glas Milch, ein Butterbrot, ein wenig Käse oder Wurst oder der Fettgehalt eines normalen Mittag- oder Abendessens genügen dafür vollauf.
Bei bekannter Allergie gegenüber Vitamin E oder einem anderen Inhaltsstoff darf das Arzneimittel nicht eingenommen werden.
Hohe Dosen von Vitamin E können die Wirkung von Antikoagulantien (gerinnungshemmende Arzneimittel) verstärken.
Bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von Eisenpräparaten kann die Wirkung von Evit vermindert werden. Die Einnahme eines der beiden Arzneimittel sollte 4 Stunden nach Einnahme des ersten erfolgen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten, bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Evit sollte während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit nur auf Empfehlung des Arztes, Apothekers oder Drogisten, bzw. der Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin eingenommen werden.
Wenn nicht anders verordnet, wird täglich 1 Kapsel mit einem Glas Wasser während einer Mahlzeit eingenommen. Eine Einnahme über längere Zeit (auch über Monate) kann vom Arzt empfohlen werden.
Die Anwendung und Sicherheit bei Kindern und Jugendlichen ist bisher nicht geprüft worden.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung.
Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.

In seltenen Fällen können bei sehr hohen Dosen Magen-Darmbeschwerden wie Übelkeit, Blähungen oder Durchfall auftreten. Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten, bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
In verschlossener Packung bei Zimmertemperatur (15?25 °C) und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
