oder dem Medikamenten-Taxi nach einer Online Sprechstunde, falls gewünscht.
Otofa enthält als Wirkstoff Rifamycin. Diese Substanz zeigt eine bakterienhemmende Wirkung gegen die meisten Bakterien, die für Infektionen des Mittelohres verantwortlich sind.
Otofa wird deshalb bei akuten Schüben von chronischen Mittelohrentzündungen (Vereiterung des Trommelfells) angewendet.
Otofa darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Auf die Anwendung von Otofa soll verzichtet werden, falls Ihnen bekannt ist, dass Sie auf den Inhaltsstoff Rifamycin oder einen der Hilfsstoffe überempfindlich reagieren.
Otofa soll nicht über längere Zeit Anwendung finden (maximal 7 bis 10 Tage).
Otofa darf bei Kindern unter 30 Monaten nicht angewendet werden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an andern Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden (bei Externa)!
Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt oder den Apotheker bzw. die Ärztin oder die Apothekerin um Rat fragen.
Falls vom Arzt Ihnen nicht anders verordnet, lautet die übliche Dosierung wie folgt:
5 Tropfen 3 mal täglich in den Gehörgang geben oder besser: 2 mal täglich mit der unverdünnten, lauwarmen Lösung ein Gehörgangbad von einigen Minuten Dauer durchführen.

Vor Gebrauch ist das Fläschchen im warmen Wasser oder in der Hand leicht anzuwärmen. Bei wiederholter Anwendung kann sich die Etikette lösen; in diesem Fall ist sie wieder sorgfältig aufs Fläschchen zu drücken, um sie wieder anzukleben.
Otofa wird in den äusseren Gehörgang eingeträufelt. Zu diesem Zweck halten Sie den Kopf auf die Seite geneigt und verbleiben anschliessend einige Minuten in dieser Stellung, um ein Auslaufen der Tropfen zu vermeiden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Otofa auftreten: lokale Hautreaktionen wie Rötungen, Reizungen oder Juckreiz.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bewahren Sie das Medikament ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und vor Licht geschützt auf.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behalter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, der über die ausführliche Fachinformation verfügt.
1 ml Lösung enthält 20 000 U.I. Rifamycin als Rifamycin-Natrium. Otofa enthält als Hilfsstoffe Macrogolum 400 und die Antioxydantien Kaliumdisulfit (E224), Ascorbinsäure (E300).
