Valaciclovir Sandoz ist ein Arzneimittel gegen das Herpes zoster-Virus, den Erreger der Gürtelrose und gegen das Herpes simplex-Virus, den Erreger der Bläschen auf Haut und Schleimhaut (z.B. Lippen, Wangen, Mund, Geschlechtsorgane). Der Wirkstoff von Valaciclovir Sandoz hemmt die Vermehrung der Herpesviren, ohne die normalen Stoffwechselvorgänge zu beeinträchtigen. Die Herpesviren bewirken auf Haut und Schleimhaut Bläschenbildung.
Valaciclovir Sandoz wird ebenfalls angewendet zur Verhütung der Cytomegalovirus (CMV)-Infektion und -Erkrankung nach einer Nierentransplantation.
Die Valaciclovir Sandoz Filmtabletten werden bei der Gürtelrose, dem Herpes labialis und genitalis sowie zur Verhütung der CMV-Infektion eingenommen.
Valaciclovir Sandoz ist nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin hin zu verwenden.
Dieses Arzneimittel wurde Ihnen von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin zur Behandlung Ihrer gegenwärtigen Erkrankung verschrieben.
Das Virostatikum in Valaciclovir Sandoz ist nicht gegen alle Mikroorganismen, welche Infektionskrankheiten verursachen, wirksam. Die Anwendung eines falsch gewählten oder nicht richtig dosierten Virostatikums kann Komplikationen verursachen. Wenden Sie es deshalb nie von sich aus für die Behandlung anderer Erkrankungen oder anderer Personen an.
Bitte achten Sie darauf, dass Sie während der Behandlung mit Valaciclovir Sandoz genügend Flüssigkeit zu sich nehmen.
Valaciclovir Sandoz darf nicht angewendet werden bei einer bekannten Überempfindlichkeit auf den Wirkstoff von Valaciclovir Sandoz und Zovirax (Aciclovir) oder auf die Hilfsstoffe in den beiden Tablettenformen.
Wenn eine bekannte Nierenfunktionsstörung vorliegt, muss dies dem Arzt bzw. der Ärztin mitgeteilt werden, da möglicherweise die Dosierung angepasst werden muss.
Bevor eine Langzeitbehandlung begonnen wird, sollte bei Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter eine wirksame Empfängnisverhütung eingeleitet werden.
Da noch keine Erfahrungen vorliegen, soll Valaciclovir Sandoz bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren nicht angewendet werden.
Aufgrund möglicher Nebenwirkungen ist Vorsicht angebracht beim Lenken von Fahrzeugen und Bedienen von Maschinen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder anwenden.
Valaciclovir Sandoz dürfen Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit nur auf Anordnung Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin einnehmen.
Während der Einnahme von Valaciclovir Sandoz sollte nicht gestillt werden.
Wenn Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin nichts anderes verordnet, gelten für Erwachsene die folgenden Dosierungsempfehlungen:
Behandlung der Gürtelrose: 3× täglich 1000 mg Valaciclovir Sandoz während 7 Tagen.
Behandlung einer Herpes simplex-Infektion: 2× täglich 500 mg Valaciclovir Sandoz während 5 Tagen, wobei Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin die Behandlungsdauer festlegt.
Vorbeugung von Herpes simplex-Rückfällen: 1× täglich 500 mg Valaciclovir Sandoz, bei immungeschwächten Patienten 2× täglich 500 mg Valaciclovir Sandoz, wobei die Behandlungsdauer jeweils vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin festgelegt wird.
Verhütung der CMV-Infektion/-Erkrankung: 4× täglich 2 g Valaciclovir Sandoz während der vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin vorgeschriebenen Behandlungsdauer.
Es sollte auf eine genügende Flüssigkeitszufuhr geachtet werden.
Bei eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion wird der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin die Dosis entsprechend anpassen.
Eine begonnene Therapie mit Virostatika sollte so lange wie vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin verordnet durchgeführt werden. Die Krankheitssymptome verschwinden oft bevor die Infektion vollständig ausgeheilt ist. Deshalb sollte die Behandlung einige Tage über das Verschwinden der Krankheitszeichen hinaus fortgesetzt werden. Eine ungenügende Anwendungsdauer oder ein zu frühes Beenden der Behandlung kann ein erneutes Aufflammen der Erkrankung zur Folge haben.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Bei der Einnahme von Valaciclovir Sandoz kann es zu Kopfschmerzen, Übelkeit, Bauchbeschwerden, Erbrechen und Durchfall kommen.
Selten wurden Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen wie z.B. Hautausschläge, Lichtüberempfindlichkeit, Schwellungen im Gesicht, akute Atemnot und Kreislaufprobleme sowie Juckreiz beobachtet und ebenfalls selten wurde über Schwindel, Unruhe, Verwirrtheit, Halluzinationen, Verhaltensveränderungen, Zittern, Krämpfe, Bewegungsstörungen, Kribbeln oder Taubheitsgefühl in den Gliedmassen, Sehstörungen, wie z.B. verschwommenes Sehen, Sprachstörungen, Bewusstseinstrübung und Bewusstseinsverlust berichtet, dies jedoch vor allem bei Patienten mit ungenügender Nierenfunktion und bei Patienten, welche sehr hohe Dosen Valaciclovir Sandoz erhalten hatten. Sehr selten wurden Nierenschmerzen beobachtet. Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin. Er bzw. sie wird gegebenenfalls Ihre Nierenfunktion überprüfen.
Falls weitere Nebenwirkungen auftreten, bei denen Sie einen Zusammenhang mit der Anwendung von Valaciclovir Sandoz vermuten, sollten Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin konsultieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Valaciclovir Sandoz sollte in der verschlossenen Originalpackung, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und ausser Reichweite von Kindern gelagert werden.
Falls nach Beenden der Behandlung Tabletten übrig sind, sollten Sie das Arzneimittel Ihrer Abgabestelle (Arzt, Apotheker bzw. Ärztin, Apothekerin) zum sachgerechten Entsorgen bringen.
