Vitacal ist eine Kombination von Calciumphosphat und Vitamin D3. Es wird angewendet als Vitamin D- und Calcium-Ergänzung bei älteren Personen mit Vitamin D- und Calcium-Mangel oder bei hohem Risiko für einen Mangelzustand (z.B. bei ungenügender Konsumation von Milchprodukten, bei ungenügender Sonnenexposition) und als Zusatz zu einer spezifischen Osteoporose-Vorbeugung bzw. -Behandlung.
Calcium und Vitamin D3 spielen eine grundlegende Rolle in der Bildung von Knochensubstanz. Bei älteren Personen ist die Calciumaufnahme vermindert und gleichzeitig die Calciumausscheidung erhöht. Ein Vitamin D-Mangel verschlechtert die Calciumaufnahme zusätzlich.
Vitacal darf nicht eingenommen werden bei einer Überempfindlichkeit auf einen der Inhaltsstoffe sowie bei: erhöhter Menge von Calcium im Blut (Hypercalcämie), erhöhter Calciumausscheidung im Urin (Hypercalciurie), schwerer Nierenerkrankung, Nierensteinen.
Um eine Überdosierung zu vermeiden, soll die Einnahme anderer Vitamin-D-Präparate während der Therapie mit Vitacal nur unter ärztlicher Aufsicht erfolgen.
Bei Langzeittherapie, leichter Niereninsuffizienz oder einer Tendenz zur Bildung von Nierensteinen wird empfohlen, die Calcium-Mengen im Blut und im Urin regelmässig kontrollieren zu lassen. Der Arzt wird die Dosierung eventuell reduzieren oder die Behandlung sogar unterbrechen.
Da Vitacal die Wirkung von Herzglykosiden (Mittel gegen Herzbeschwerden) verstärken kann, muss vor einer gleichzeitigen Einnahme unbedingt der Arzt konsultiert werden. Bei Behandlung mit einem Biphosphonat, Natriumfluorid, Cholestyramin, Eisenpräparaten oder Paraffin sollte vor der Einnahme von Vitacal ein zeitlicher Abstand von mindestens 2 Stunden eingehalten werden. Bei oraler Behandlung mit Tetrazyklinen (einer Antibiotika-Klasse) sollte vor der Einnahme von Vitacal ein zeitlicher Abstand von mindestens 3 Stunden eingehalten werden.
Patientinnen und Patienten, die auf Azofarbstoffe, Acetylsalicylsäure sowie Rheuma- und Schmerzmittel (Prostaglandinhemmer) überempfindlich reagieren, sollen Vitacal nicht anwenden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Das Präparat darf während Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit nur auf ärztliche Anordnung eingenommen werden. Die Dosierung muss vom Arzt festgelegt werden.
Ältere Erwachsene: Einmal täglich wird der Inhalt eines Sachets eingenommen.
Der Inhalt des Sachets wird in einem Glas mit nicht-kohlensäurehaltigem Wasser unter Rühren aufgelöst. Die Suspension soll sofort, am besten während einer Mahlzeit, getrunken werden.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin, Drogistin.
Vitacal ist nicht zur Anwendung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren bestimmt.
Selten treten Störungen des Magen-Darm-Traktes, wie Übelkeit, Verstopfung, Durchfall oder Bauchschmerzen, auf.
Der in Vitacal enthaltene Farbstoff Gelborange S kann Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen der Haut und der Atmungsorgane auslösen, insbesondere bei Patienten und Patientinnen mit Asthma, Nesselfieber (chronischer Urtikaria) oder mit Überempfindlichkeit auf Acetylsalicylsäure und andere Rheuma- und Schmerzmittel.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel ist ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern und an einem trockenen, dunklen Ort bei Raumtemperatur (15-25° C) aufzubewahren. Es darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit ?EXP? bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
