Geriaforce ist ein Frischpflanzen-Präparat aus den Blättern des Japanischen Tempelbaumes (Ginkgo biloba). Sie enthalten Wirkstoffe (auch Ginkgoflavonoide), denen durchblutungsfördernde Eigenschaften zugeschrieben werden. Geriaforce kann zur Linderung der Beschwerden bei Arteriosklerose verwendet werden, insbesondere bei Symptomen wie Vergesslichkeit, Konzentrations und Merkschwäche.
Bevor die Behandlung mit Geriaforce begonnen wird, sollte geklärt werden, ob die Krankheitssymptome nicht auf einer spezifisch zu behandelnden Grunderkrankung beruhen. Häufig auftretende Schwindelgefühle bedürfen grundsätzlich einer Abklärung durch den Arzt oder die Ärztin. Wenn die Beschwerden nicht innerhalb einer angemessenen Zeit nachlassen, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin um Rat fragen. Einseitige Ernährung, übermässiger Fettkonsum sowie Rauchen können Begleiterscheinungen der Arteriosklerose verstärken und sollten vermieden oder eingeschränkt werden.
Bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit auf Ginkgo biloba Zubereitungen (oder weiteren Bestandteilen des Arzneimittels ? siehe Zusammensetzung) darf Geriaforce nicht angewendet werden. Zur Anwendung dieses Arzneimittels bei Kindern liegen keine Untersuchungen vor. Es soll deshalb bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren nicht angewendet werden. Insbesondere bei Langzeitanwendung wurde über Einzelfälle von Blutungen berichtet (deren ursächlicher Zusammenhang mit der Einnahme von Ginkgo-Zubereitungen bisher nicht eindeutig gesichert ist). Eine Wechselwirkung mit Arzneimitteln, die die Blutgerinnung hemmen, kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Über die Einnahme vor operativen Eingriffen ist der Arzt oder die Ärztin zu befragen bzw. zu informieren. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen.
Auf Grund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. die Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin um Rat fragen.
Erwachsene: 3mal täglich vor den Mahlzeiten 20 ? 30 Tropfen in etwas Wasser einnehmen.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme oder Anwendung von Geriaforce auftreten: Bei Ginkgo-haltigen Arzneimitteln können sehr selten leichte Magen-Darmbeschwerden, Kopfschmerzen oder allergische Reaktionen der Haut (Hautrötung, -schwellung, Juckreiz) auftreten. Zum möglichen Blutungsrisiko siehe unter Rubrik «Wann darf Geriaforce nicht oder nur mit Vorsicht angewendet werden?» Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Geriaforce enthält einen herstellungsbedingten Alkoholgehalt von 65 Vol.-%. Geriaforce soll bei Raumtemperatur (15 ? 25 °C) und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahrt werden. Geriaforce darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Frischpflanzen-Tinkturen können gelegentlich eine Nachtrübung erfahren, welche jedoch die Wirkung nicht beeinträchtigt. Nicht aufgebrauchte oder verfallene Packungen sollen an Ihren Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Apothekerin oder Drogistin zur Entsorgung zurückgebracht werden.
