+-Was ist Drossafol und wann wird es angewendet?

Folsäure (die Wirksubstanz von Drossafol) fördert die Produktion der roten Blutkörperchen und ist deshalb für die Aufrechterhaltung einer normalen Blutbildung unerlässlich.

Drossafol wird vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin verschrieben. Es wird bei Patientinnen und Patienten zur Behandlung eingesetzt, die an einer Blutmangelkrankheit leiden, welche durch Folsäuremangel hervorgerufen wird.

Folsäuremangel entsteht unter anderem:

?bei Mangelernährung (Alkoholiker, bei einseitiger Kost für ältere Leute),

?bei mangelhafter Aufnahme im Darm (z.B. nach Darmopera­tionen),

?bei langdauernder Blutwäsche (Dialyse),

?bei erhöhtem Bedarf (Schwangerschaft, Säuglingsalter, Kindheit).

+-Wann darf Drossafol nicht angewendet werden?

Drossafol dürfen Sie nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie gegenüber einem Inhaltsstoff des Präparates überempfindlich (allergisch) reagieren.

Bei perniziöser Anämie (eine Krankheit, welche die Absorption von Vitamin B12 aus der Nahrung verhindert) darf Drossafol nicht alleine eingenommen werden, da es einen durch Vitamin-B12-Mangel verursachten Blutmangel verschleiern kann. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin weiss, was in diesem Fall zu tun ist.

Bei Blutmangelkrankheiten unklarer Ursache wird Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin abklären, ob Sie die Behandlung mit Drossafol beginnen können.

+-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Drossafol Vorsicht geboten?

Bei Alkohol-Überkonsum, bei gewissen Formen der Blutarmut oder bei chronischen Infektionen kann eine Erhöhung der Dosis notwendig sein. Bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von krampflösenden Mitteln, wie sie bei Epilepsie verschrieben werden, ist darauf zu achten, dass epileptische Anfälle - insbesondere bei Kindern ? häufiger und stärker auftreten können. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin weiss, was in solchen Fällen zu tun ist.

Insbesondere in hohen Dosen kann dieses Arzneimittel die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an andern Krankheiten leiden, Allergien ­haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbst gekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!

+-Darf Drossafol während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

Während der Schwangerschaft und in der Stillzeit sollten Sie aus Vorsichtsgründen auf Arzneimittel möglichst verzichten. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verschreibt Ihnen Drossafol während Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit nur dann, wenn es dafür medizinische Gründe gibt. Es ist bisher nichts darüber bekannt, ob beim gestillten Säugling durch Verabreichung von Drossafol an die Mutter unerwünschte Wirkungen auftreten können.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Drossafol?

Erwachsene und Kinder (unabhängig vom Alter) 1 Tablette (5 mg Acidum folicum) täglich. In gewissen Fällen können höhere Dosierungen nötig sein. Die Erhaltungsdosis wird individuell vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin angepasst.

Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Drossafol haben?

In Einzelfällen können allergische Reaktionen (Hautjucken, Krampf der Bronchialmuskulatur und anaphylaktischer Schock mit Blutdruckabfall) auftreten.

Bei hohen Dosierungen (15 mg/Tag) können in seltenen Fällen Magen-Darm-Beschwerden, sowie Nervenstörungen wie Schlafstörungen, Erregung oder Depression auftreten.

Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

+-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

Das Arzneimittel ist bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C), vor Licht und Feuchtigkeit geschützt und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren.

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
