Iberogast ist ein pflanzliches Arzneimittel, das einen Frischpflanzenauszug aus der Bitteren Schleifenblume (Iberis amara) sowie alkoholische Auszüge von 8 weiteren Arzneipflanzen enthält. Die neben der Bitteren Schleifenblume enthaltenen Pflanzenauszüge wirken krampflösend und beruhigend auf die gereizte Magen-Darm-Schleimhaut.
Iberogast wird bei Reizmagen und Reizdarm angewendet, das heisst bei funktionellen Magen-Darm-Beschwerden, die sich durch saures Aufstossen, Sodbrennen, Appetitlosigkeit, Blähungen und Völlegefühl, Übelkeit oder Brechreiz äussern.
Auf ärztliche Verschreibung wird das Präparat auch bei epigastrischem Schmerz sowie bei Bauchkrämpfen eingesetzt.
Magenbeschwerden, die sich an umschriebener Stelle als Schmerz oder Druckschmerz äussern oder mit allgemeinem Krankheitsgefühl verbunden sind, bedürfen der ärztlichen Beratung.
Denken Sie daran, dass gewisse Genussmittel wie Kaffee, Alkohol, Nikotin sowie gewisse Arzneimittel wie Schmerz- und Rheumamittel Magenbeschwerden verursachen können.
Verdauungsbeschwerden bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren müssen ärztlich abgeklärt werden. Deshalb soll das Präparat in diesen Fällen ohne ärztlichen Rat nicht angewendet werden.
Iberogast darf nicht angewendet werden bei bekannter Empfindlichkeit auf einen der Inhaltsstoffe.
Die Symptome von Reizmagen und Reizdarm wie Sodbrennen, Appetitlosigkeit, Völlegefühl, Übelkeit können auf organische Krankheiten hindeuten. Beim Auftreten derartiger Beschwerden oder Verschlechterung sollte ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin aufgesucht werden.
Bei schweren Erkrankungen des Magen-Darm-Traktes darf Iberogast nur auf Anweisung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Nicht anwenden bei Kindern bis 6 Jahre.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen!
Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt.
Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt oder den Apotheker bzw. die Ärztin oder die Apothekerin um Rat fragen.

Soweit nicht anders verschrieben, nehmen Erwachsene und Jugendliche ab 12 Jahren 3-mal täglich 20 Tropfen Iberogast (Flasche bei Tropfvorgang schräg halten) vor oder zu den Mahlzeiten in etwas Flüssigkeit (empfehlenswert ist warmes Wasser) ein.
Iberogast darf bei Kindern von 6 bis 12 Jahren nur auf ärztliche Verschreibung eingenommen werden.
1 ml = 20 Tropfen.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin verschriebenen Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Iberogast auftreten:

Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Vor Gebrauch schütteln. Sollte Iberogast Ausflockungen oder Trübungen aufweisen, so sind diese ohne Einfluss auf die Wirksamkeit des Präparates.
Das Arzneimittel ist gut verschlossen und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP.» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
