Metolazon Galepharm wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet zur Behandlung von Ödemen (Flüssigkeitsansammlungen im Gewebe) bei Nierenerkrankungen und Zuständen mit eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion.
Es handelt sich um ein harntreibendes Mittel (Diuretikum) mit dem Wirkstoff Metolazon.
In folgenden Fällen darf Metolazon Galepharm nicht angewendet werden:
Wenn Sie kein Wasser mehr lösen können, auch nicht bei Koma oder komatösen Zuständen, die durch eine Leberzirrhose bedingt sein können, und bei Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen auf den Wirkstoff oder einen Hilfsstoff.
Wird Metolazon Galepharm zusammen mit blutdrucksenkenden Arzneimitteln oder mit Alkohol eingenommen, so kann der Blutdruck abfallen, was zu Schwindel, Schwäche und Müdigkeit führt.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin vor der Anwendung dieses Arzneimittels, ob Sie auf Diuretika (Arzneimittel zur Erhöhung der Urinausscheidung) allergisch reagieren, an Gicht oder an Diabetes (Zuckerkrankheit) leiden.
Sie sollten Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin über alle zusätzlich eingenommenen Arzneimittel (auch pflanzliche Arzneimittel) informieren. Speziell wichtig ist dies, wenn Sie
lithiumhaltige Arzneimittel (zur Behandlung einer bestimmten Art von Depression),
Digoxin (ein Arzneimittel zur Behandlung der Herzschwäche),
Schmerzmittel,
Arzneimittel zur Krebstherapie oder zur Beeinflussung des Immunsystems (wie z.B. Sandimmun®, Methotrexat®, Endoxan®),
einnehmen/anwenden müssen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin,
wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden (insbesondere an Nierenerkrankungen, Diabetes oder Gicht),
Allergien haben (insbesondere auf Sulfonamide, Thiazide und verwandte Stoffe),
andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!), insbesondere Barbiturate oder Arzneimittel zur Blutdrucksenkung, einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit darf Metolazon Galepharm nicht eingenommen werden.
Metolazon Galepharm soll am Morgen mit dem Frühstück eingenommen werden.
Die Dosierung beträgt zu Beginn der Therapie 2,5 mg pro Tag. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann die Dosierung nach Ihrem individuellen Ansprechen auf das Arzneimittel anpassen und gegebenenfalls erhöhen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Metolazon Galepharm auftreten:
Gelegentlich können Brechreiz, Erbrechen, Verstopfung, Durchfall, Kopfschmerzen, Müdigkeit und Schwächezustand auftreten.
Informieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt, wenn bei Ihnen im Laufe der Behandlung Juckreiz, Hautrötungen, Gichtanfälle, Schwierigkeiten beim Wasserlösen oder andere ungewohnte Symptome auftreten.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin über alle Arzneimittel, die Sie ausserdem regelmässig oder gelegentlich anwenden.
Arzneimittel sollen für Kinder unerreichbar aufbewahrt werden.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern. Vor Licht geschützt und in der Originalpackung aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
