Simvastatin, der Wirkstoff von Simvasin Spirig HC, ist cholesterinsenkend und wird aus einem natürlichen Gärungsprodukt eines Pilzstammes gewonnen. Die Wirkung besteht darin, gezielt den Aufbau des körpereigenen Cholesterins zu bremsen. In der Folge wird vermehrt überschüssiges Cholesterin aus dem Blutkreislauf entfernt.
Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin hat Ihnen Simvasin Spirig HC verordnet, weil bei Ihnen eine Störung des Fettstoffwechsels vorliegt, bei welcher erhöhte Blutcholesterinwerte durch Diät und andere Massnahmen nicht genügend gesenkt werden konnten.
Durch die Behandlung mit Simvasin Spirig HC können erhöhte Cholesterinwerte und Triglyzeride (fettartige Substanzen) im Blut wirksam gesenkt und die Werte des «guten» HDL-Cholesterins erhöht werden.
Simvasin Spirig HC kann auch bei Patienten oder Patientinnen, die eine koronare Herzkrankheit haben oder bei denen das Risiko besteht, eine solche zu entwickeln, weil sie Diabetes (Zuckerkrankheit), einen Hirnschlag in der Vorgeschichte oder eine andere Gefässkrankheit haben, angewendet werden, unabhängig vom Cholesterinspiegel.
Simvasin Spirig HC soll nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Vor der Behandlung mit Simvasin Spirig HC soll eine cholesterinsenkende Diät durchgeführt und ein vorhandenes Übergewicht abgebaut werden. Die fett- und cholesterinarme Diät ist auch während der Behandlung mit Simvasin Spirig HC weiterzuführen.
Wie andere Arzneimittel soll Simvasin Spirig HC nicht eingenommen werden, wenn eine Überempfindlichkeit gegen eine der Komponenten des Präparats vorliegt. Patienten und Patientinnen, die an einer Lebererkrankung leiden oder bei denen aus nicht bekannten Gründen die Blutwerte der Leberenzyme erhöht sind, dürfen Simvasin Spirig HC nicht anwenden.
Ferner darf Simvasin Spirig HC während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit nicht eingenommen werden.
Simvasin Spirig HC darf nicht eingenommen werden, wenn Sie eines oder mehrere der nachfolgenden Arzneimittel einnehmen: Arzneimittel gegen Pilze, z.B. Itraconazol (Sporanox®), Ketoconazol (Nizoral®) oder Posaconazol (Noxafil®) oder Voriconazol (Vfend®), HIV-Proteasehemmer, z.B. Indinavir (Crixivan®), Nelfinavir (Viracept®), Ritonavir (Norvir®), Saquinavir (Invirase®, Fortovase®), Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Hepatitis C Virusinfektionen, z.B. Boceprevir (Victrelis®) oder Telaprevir (Incivo®), Antibiotika, z.B. Erythromycin (Erythrocin®), Clarithromycin (Klacid®), Telithromycin, bestimmte Antidepressiva, z.B. Nefazodon (Nefadar®), Arzneimittel die Cobicistat (Stribild®) enthalten; Gemfibrozil (Gevilon®) eine cholesterinsenkende Fibrinsäure, Cyclosporin (Sandimmun®) und Danazol (Danatrol®).
Fragen Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin wenn Sie nicht sicher sind, ob Ihr Arzneimittel, das Sie einnehmen, oben aufgelistet ist.
Die Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von Simvastatin wurden bei 10?17 Jahre alten Jungen und bei Mädchen mindestens ein Jahr nach Menstruationsbeginn untersucht (siehe «Wie verwenden Sie Simvasin Spirig HC?»). Simvasin Spirig HC soll bei Kindern unter 10 Jahren sowie bei Mädchen vor Menstruationsbeginn nicht angewendet werden, da keine Erfahrung vorhanden ist. Für weitere Informationen wenden Sie sich an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen.
Bei der Einnahme von Simvasin Spirig HC sind selten erhöhte Werte bestimmter Lebertests (ohne Krankheitszeichen) aufgetreten. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wird deshalb diese Laborwerte periodisch kontrollieren. Bei Patienten und Patientinnen, die übermässig Alkohol konsumieren oder Lebererkrankungen in der Vorgeschichte aufweisen, wird der Arzt oder die Ärztin dieses Arzneimittel nur mit besonderen Vorsichtsmassnahmen verordnen.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wird Sie während der Einnahme von Simvasin Spirig HC regelmässig auf Diabetes, respektive auf das Risiko zur Entwicklung von Diabetes untersuchen. Wenn Sie hohe Zucker- und Fettwerte im Blut haben, übergewichtig sind und einen hohen Blutdruck haben, besteht bei Ihnen wahrscheinlich ein Risiko zur Entwicklung von Diabetes.
Konsultieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin sofort, wenn Sie unerklärliche Muskelschmerzen, -empfindlichkeit oder -schwäche verspüren. In seltenen Fällen können Muskelprobleme schwerwiegend sein, einschliesslich Muskelabbau, der Nierenschäden zur Folge haben kann. Das Risiko ist höher bei höheren Dosierungen von Simvasin Spirig HC und bei Patienten mit abnormaler Nierenfunktion.
Grapefruitsaft enthält eine oder mehrere Komponenten, die den Stoffwechsel einiger Arzneimittel einschliesslich Simvasin Spirig HC verändern. Wenn Sie Simvasin Spirig HC einnehmen, sollten Sie vermeiden Grapefruitsaft zu trinken.
Während der Einnahme von Simvasin Spirig HC sollten Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin über alle Arzneimittel informieren, die Sie einnehmen oder einzunehmen gedenken, auch über solche, die ohne Rezept erhältlich sind. Sie sollten auch jedem Arzt bzw. jeder Ärztin, die Ihnen ein neues Arzneimittel verschreiben, mitteilen, dass Sie Simvasin Spirig HC einnehmen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ärztin wenn Sie asiatischer Abstammung sind.
Weil die Einnahme von Simvasin Spirig HC mit jedem der nachfolgend genannten Arzneimittel oder Substanzendas Risiko von Muskelbeschwerden erhöhen kann (siehe «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Simvasin Spirig HC haben?»), ist es besonders wichtig, Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin darüber zu informieren, wenn Sie folgende Arzneimittel oder Substanzen einnehmen:
Es ist auch wichtig, Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin darüber zu informieren, wenn Sie Antikoagulantien (Mittel zur Blutverdünnung) wie Phenprocoumon (Marcoumar®) oder Acenocoumarol (Sintrom®), Colchicin (Arzneimittel gegen Gicht), Niacin, Digoxin oder Fenofibrat (Lipanthyl®), ein anderes Fibratderivat einnehmen. Einige dieser Arzneimittel sind bereits oben im Kapitel «Wann darf Simvasin Spirig HC nicht angewendet werden?» erwähnt.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Simvasin Spirig HC darf bei Frauen, die schwanger sind, schwanger werden wollen oder den Verdacht haben schwanger zu sein, nicht angewendet werden. Falls Sie dennoch schwanger werden, müssen Sie die Behandlung mit Simvasin Spirig HC sofort abbrechen und die Situation mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin besprechen. Frauen, die Simvasin Spirig HCHC einnehmen, sollen nicht stillen.
Simvasin Spirig HC wird in der Regel einmal täglich angewendet. Die jeweilige Tagesdosis wird dann am Abend zusammen mit der Mahlzeit unzerkaut eingenommen.
Anfangs wird Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin zumeist eine halbe oder ganze Filmtablette Simvasin Spirig HC 20 mg verordnen. Allfällige Anpassungen der Dosierung wird er oder sie in Abständen von mindestens 4 Wochen vornehmen. Die Maximaldosis beträgt 1 Filmtablette Simvasin Spirig HC 80 mg und wird entweder abends als Einzeldosis oder wie von Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin verschrieben eingenommen. Wegen des erhöhten Risikos von Muskelproblemen, ist die 80 mg Dosis nur für Patienten und Patientinnen, welche chronisch die 80 mg Dosis ohne schwerwiegende Muskelprobleme eingenommen haben. Nebenwirkungen treten bei einer Dosierung von 80 mg häufiger auf.
Für Kinder und Jugendliche im Alter von 10?17 Jahren ist die empfohlene Anfangsdosis einmal 10 mg täglich am Abend eingenommen. Der empfohlene Dosisbereich beträgt 10?40 mg pro Tag. Die maximal empfohlene Dosis ist 40 mg pro Tag. Mädchen sollten mindestens 1 Jahr nach Menarche (1. Regelblutung) sein.
Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin kann Ihnen eine niedrigere Dosis verordnen, besonders wenn Sie bestimmte Arzneimittel wie unter «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Simvasin Spirig HC Vorsicht geboten?» aufgeführt einnehmen oder gewisse Nierenprobleme haben.
Eine kombinierte Anwendung mit anderen blutfettsenkenden Arzneimitteln ist möglich, vor allem mit solchen, die Gallensäuren binden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung von Simvasin Spirig HC. Nehmen Sie Simvasin Spirig HC genau so ein wie es Ihnen von Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin verschrieben wurde. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Informieren Sie sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.
Versuchen Sie Simvasin Spirig HC so einzunehmen, wie es Ihnen verschrieben wurde. Falls Sie eine Dosis vergessen haben, holen Sie die Einnahme nicht mit einer Extradosis nach, sondern fahren Sie am folgenden Tag mit der normalen Einnahme weiter.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Simvasin Spirig HC auftreten: Bauchschmerzen, Verstopfung, Blähungen und Übelkeit, Müdigkeit, saures Aufstossen, Verdauungsstörungen, Kopfschmerzen, Durchfall, Hautausschläge und Gelenk- oder Muskelschmerzen, Muskelempfindlichkeit oder -schwäche, , (die in sehr seltenen Fällen auch nach Absetzen von Simvasin Spirig HC nicht verschwinden), Leberprobleme (manchmal schwerwiegend), Gedächtnisstörungen, Gedächtnisverlust, Verwirrtheit, Schlaflosigkeit, Alpträume, Depressionen, Erektionsstörungen, Atembeschwerden einschliesslich hartnäckigem Husten und/oder Atemnot, oder Fieber, Sensibilitätsstörungen (Kribbeln, Schmerzen, Taubheit in Händen und Füssen), Schwindel und Überempfindlichkeit (allergische Reaktionen, die eine Anzahl von Symptomen wie Gelenkschmerzen, Fieber, Gesichtsrötung und Atemnot haben können).
Diabetes kann auftreten ? dies ist wahrscheinlicher, wenn Sie hohe Zucker- und Fettwerte im Blut haben, übergewichtig sind und einen hohen Blutdruck haben. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wird Sie während der Einnahme dieses Arzneimittels diesbezüglich überwachen.
Es ist ferner über Einzelfälle von Beschwerden der Achillessehne, teilweise auch über Achillessehnenriss berichtet worden.
Kontaktieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie Muskelschmerzen, Muskelempfindlichkeit oder -schwäche verspüren. Dies, weil in seltenen Fällen die Muskelprobleme schwerwiegend sein können einschliesslich mit Muskelversagen, das zu einem Nierenschaden und im Weiteren zum Tod führen kann. Dieses Risiko für Muskelversagen ist grösser bei Patienten und Patientinnen, die höhere Dosen von Simvasin Spirig HC einnehmen, besonders bei einer Dosierung von 80 mg, bei älteren Patienten und Patientinnen (65 Jahre und älter), das weibliche Geschlecht, bei Patienten und Patientinnen, die an einer Nierenfunktionsstörung leiden und bei Patienten und Patientinnen mit Schilddrüsenproblemen.
Lassen Sie sich regelmässig von Ihrem Arzt resp. Ärztin bezüglich Ihres Cholesterinspiegels und auf unerwünschte Wirkungen untersuchen. Bevor Sie zum ersten Mal Simvasin Spirig HC einnehmen und falls während der Behandlung mit Simvasin Spirig HC Symptome von Leberproblemen auftreten, sollte Ihr Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin Bluttests zur Überprüfung Ihrer Leber durchführen. Kontaktieren Sie Ihren Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin sofort, falls bei Ihnen die folgenden Symptome von Leberproblemen auftreten:

Simvasin Spirig HC bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C), in der Originalverpackung vor Licht geschützt aufbewahren. Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP.» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
