+-Was ist Solmucol und wann wird es angewendet?

Solmucol enthält den Wirkstoff Acetylcystein. Dieser Wirkstoff verflüssigt und löst den zähen, festsitzenden Schleim in den Luftwegen und fördert den Auswurf. Dadurch wird die Atmung erleichtert.

Aus diesem Grund ist Solmucol zur Behandlung von Atemwegserkrankungen, die mit festem und zähem Schleim einhergehen, indiziert.

Solmucol 400/600 kann auf ärztliche Verschreibung als Langzeitbehandlung chronischer Bronchitis verwendet werden und bei allen Atemwegserkrankungen, die mit vermehrter Schleimproduktion einhergehen, wie Rachenschleimhaut-, Kehlkopfschleimhaut-, Luftröhren- und Nasennebenhöhlenentzündungen. Im Fall von Mukoviszidose, eine angeborene Krankheit bei der vermehrt Schleim in den Bronchien produziert wird, kann Solmucol unterstützend zur Therapie eingesetzt werden.

+-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

Die Wirkung von Solmucol wird durch reichliches Trinken gefördert.

Da das Rauchen zu einer übermässigen Ansammlung von Bronchialschleim beiträgt, können Sie die Wirkung von Solmucol unterstützen, indem Sie auf das Rauchen verzichten.

Für Diabetiker: Solmucol 400/600 kann von Diabetikern eingenommen werden, da es keine diabetogenen Süssstoffe enthält. Dennoch soll berücksichtigt werden, dass der gesamte Kaloriengehalt eines 400 mg Beutels 5 kcal/21 kJ, derjenige eines 600 mg Beutels 8 kcal/34 kJ entspricht.

+-Wann darf Solmucol nicht angewendet werden?

Solmucol darf bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit gegen den Wirkstoff oder einen der weiteren Inhaltsstoffe, bei Magen-Darmgeschwüren oder während der Stillzeit nicht angewendet werden.

Solmucol darf nicht zusammen mit anderen hustenstillenden Mitteln eingenommen werden. Durch eine zu starke Unterdrückung des Hustenreflexes kann sonst der durch Solmucol verflüssigte Schleim nicht ausgehustet werden, was zu einem gefährlichen Sekretstau, mit der Gefahr einer Atemwegsinfektion und eines Bronchialkrampfes führen kann. Ihr Arzt, bzw. Ihre Ärztin weiss, was in solchen Fällen zu tun ist.

Wegen seines hohen Wirkstoffsgehaltes darf Solmucol 400/600 nicht zur Behandlung von Kindern unter 12 Jahren verwendet werden.

+-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Solmucol Vorsicht geboten?

Wenn Sie schon einmal nach der Einnahme eines acetylcysteinhaltigen Arzneimittels (Wirkstoff von Solmucol) mit Hautausschlägen oder Atembeschwerden reagiert haben, sollten Sie vor der Einnahme dieses Arzneimittels unbedingt Ihren Arzt, bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren.

Wenn Sie an Bronchialasthma leiden oder wenn bei Ihnen die Gefahr von Magendarmblutungen (z.B. latente Geschwüre, Varizen der Speiseröhre) besteht, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren.

Die gleichzeitige Einnahme bestimmter Arzneimittel kann zur gegenseitigen Beeinflussung der Wirkungen führen. So kann die Wirkung gewisser Arzneimittel gegen die Verengung der Atemwege (Bronchodilatatoren), sowie der bei Durchblutungsstörungen der Herzkranzgefässe verwendeten Arzneimittel (Nitroglycerin bei Angina pectoris) durch Solmucol verstärkt werden.

Wenn Sie (auf Verschreibung des Arztes, bzw. der Ärztin) zusätzlich Antibiotika einnehmen müssen, sollten Sie zwischen der Einnahme dieser Antibiotika und Solmucol einen zeitlichen Abstand von mindestens zwei Stunden einhalten.

Ihr Arzt, bzw. Ärztin oder Apotheker, bzw. Apothekerin kann Ihnen Auskunft geben, welche Antibiotika betroffen sind.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker, bzw. Ärztin, Apothekerin, wenn Sie an andern Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.

+-Darf Solmucol während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nicht durchgeführt.

Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt oder den Apotheker, bzw. die Ärztin oder die Apothekerin um Rat fragen.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, bzw. Ärztin, falls Sie während der Behandlung mit Solmucol schwanger werden sollten.

Wenn Sie Solmucol während der Stillzeit zwingend einnehmen müssen, sollten Sie Ihr Kind vorsichtshalber nicht stillen.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Solmucol 400/600?

Wenn vom Arzt, bzw. der Ärztin nicht anders verordnet, sind die üblichen Dosierungen die folgenden:

Erwachsene und Jugendliche über 12 Jahre

1× täglich 1 Beutel Granulat zu 400 mg oder

1× täglich 1 Beutel Granulat zu 600 mg.

Mukoviszidose

Die oben angegebene Dosierung, jedoch bereits für Kinder ab 6 Jahren, 1mal täglich 1 Granulat zu 600 mg.

Wegen der Schwere der Erkrankung kann der Arzt, bzw. die Ärztin, dem Patientenzustand entsprechend, eine unterschiedliche Dosierung verschreiben.

Anwendung

Lösen Sie den Beutelinhalt in einem Glas kaltem oder heissem Wasser auf und trinken Sie es sofort.

Lösen Sie nicht andere Arzneimittel gleichzeitig mit Solmucol im Wasser auf, denn dadurch kann die Wirksamkeit sowohl von Solmucol als auch der anderen Arzneimittel beeinträchtigt oder aufgehoben werden.

Beim Öffnen des Beutels wird ein leichter Schwefelgeruch wahrnehmbar, der für den Wirkstoff Acetylcystein typisch ist, dessen Wirkung jedoch keineswegs beeinflusst.

Die Wirkung von Solmucol zeigt sich nach 2?3 Behandlungstagen.

Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker, bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung.

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Solmucol haben?

Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Solmucol auftreten:

Magen-Darm-Störungen wie Erbrechen, Durchfall, Übelkeit, Bauchschmerzen oder Entzündungen der Mundschleimhaut, sowie Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen, Nesselsucht, Kopfschmerzen und Fieber.

Im Weiteren können beschleunigter Puls, tiefer Blutdruck und Ohrgeräusche, Sodbrennen, sowie Blutungen und Wasseransammlungen im Gesicht vorkommen.

Bei dafür veranlagten Personen kann es zu allergischen Reaktionen der Haut (Hautausschlag und Juckreiz) und der Atmungsorgane (Atemschwierigkeiten, Bronchospasmen) kommen. In diesem Fall müssen Sie die Einnahme von Solmucol sofort abbrechen und unverzüglich Ihren Arzt, bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen.

Der Atem kann ? wahrscheinlich durch Abspalten von Schwefelwasserstoff aus dem Wirkstoff ? vorübergehend einen unangenehmen Geruch bekommen.

Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker, bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

+-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

Solmucol soll ausser Kinderreichweite, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und vor Licht geschützt aufbewahrt werden.

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

Falls Sie Arzneimittel haben, deren Verfalldatum abgelaufen ist, geben Sie diese bitte Ihrem Apotheker, bzw. Ihrer Apothekerin zurück.
