Umckaloabo® ist ein pflanzliches Heilmittel und enthält einen getrockneten Extrakt aus den Wurzeln von Pelargonium sidoides, einer nur in Südafrika vorkommenden Pflanze.
Umckaloabo® wird zur symptomatischen Behandlung einer akuten Bronchitis angewendet.
Bei Husten, der länger als 7 Tage anhält, bei über mehrere Tage anhaltendem Fieber sowie bei Auftreten von Atemnot muss ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin oder ein Apotheker bzw. eine Apothekerin konsultiert (beigezogen) werden.
Die Behandlungsdauer sollte 3 Wochen nicht überschreiten.
Umckaloabo® darf nicht eingenommen werden:
-Bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit gegen den Wirkstoff oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile des Arzneimittels
-Bei erhöhter Blutungsneigung sowie bei Anwendung gerinnungshemmender Arzneimittel (orale Antikoagulantien wie Warfarin, Phenprocoumon)
-Bei Leber- und Nierenerkrankungen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie
-an anderen Krankheiten leiden
-Allergien haben oder
-andere Arzneimittel (auch selbst gekaufte!) einnehmen!
Dieses Arzneimittel ist zur Anwendung bei Kindern bis 12 Jahren nicht vorgesehen.
Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit das Arzneimittel nicht einnehmen, da diesbezüglich keine ausreichenden Erfahrungen vorliegen.
Soweit nicht anders verschrieben, nehmen Erwachsene und Jugendliche ab 12 Jahren: 3-mal täglich 1 Filmtablette (morgens, mittags und abends) mit etwas Flüssigkeit ein.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Gelegentlich können Magen-Darm-Beschwerden (wie z.B. Magenschmerzen, Sodbrennen, Übelkeit, Durchfall) auftreten. In seltenen Fällen kann leichtes Zahnfleisch- oder Nasenbluten auftreten. Ferner wurden in seltenen Fällen Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen beschrieben (Hautausschlag, Nesselsucht, Juckreiz an Haut und Schleimhäuten). Derartige Reaktionen können schon nach der ersten Anwendung des Arzneimittels auftreten.
In sehr seltenen Fällen können schwere Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen mit Gesichtsschwellung, Atemnot und Blutdruckabfall auftreten. In einzelnen Fällen gab es Hinweise auf Leberfunktionsstörungen, deren ursächlicher Zusammenhang mit der Einnahme von Umckaloabo® nicht gesichert ist.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren. Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern. Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogist bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
1 Filmtablette enthält als Wirkstoff: Auszug aus Pelargonium-sidoides-Wurzeln (DEV 1:8-10) getrocknet 20,0 mg. Das Auszugsmittel ist Ethanol 11% (m/m). Dieses Präparat enthält zusätzliche Hilfsstoffe sowie das Konservierungsmittel Sorbinsäure (E 200).
