Amavita Cetirizin ist bei der Basisbehandlung von allergischen Erkrankungen wirksam. Es blockiert die Wirkung von Histamin, das bei allergischen Reaktionen im Körper freigesetzt wird.
Amavita Cetirizin wird bei Erwachsenen und Kindern ab 6 Jahren eingesetzt zur Behandlung von allergischen Erkrankungen, wie Heuschnupfen, allergischer Schnupfen und allergische Bindehautentzündung sowie chronische Nesselsucht (die oft mit Juckreiz einhergeht).

Patienten oder Patientinnen, die gegen den Wirkstoff, anderen damit verwandten Substanzen oder einem sonstigen Bestandteil von Amavita Cetirizin überempfindlich sind, dürfen das Präparat nicht anwenden.
Stillende Frauen sollten Amavita Cetirizin nicht anwenden. Schwangere Frauen sollten Amavita Cetirizin nur auf ärztliche Verordnung einnehmen.
Kinder unter 6 Jahren sollten nicht mit Amavita Cetirizin behandelt werden. Eine gleichzeitige Einnahme von Amavita Cetirizin mit Theophyllin (ein Wirkstoff zur Behandlung von Atemnotzuständen) sollte nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin erfolgen. Amavita Cetirizin und Präparate, welche Glipizid enthalten (ein Mittel zur Behandlung der Zuckerkrankheit) sollten nicht zusammen eingenommen werden. Es wird empfohlen, morgens die Glipizid-Medikation und abends Amavita Cetirizin einzunehmen.
Bei Epileptikern sollte Amavita Cetirizin mit Vorsicht angewendet werden, da es möglicherweise Krampfanfälle auslösen könnte. Bei der gleichzeitigen Anwendung von Amavita Cetirizin mit Beruhigungs- oder Schmerzmitteln ist Vorsicht geboten. Während einer Behandlung mit Amavita Cetirizin ist es ratsam, auf Alkohol zu verzichten.
Beim Lenken eines Motorfahrzeuges oder im Umgang mit Maschinen ist Vorsicht geboten, da die Einnahme von Amavita Cetirizin schläfrig machen kann.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
In Tierversuchen sind keine unerwünschten Wirkungen festgestellt worden. Dennoch sollte Amavita Cetirizin ? wie andere Arzneimittel ? während der Schwangerschaft nicht eingenommen werden. Sollten Sie Amavita Cetirizin während der Schwangerschaft versehentlich eingenommen haben, ist eine schädigende Wirkung für das ungeborene Kind nicht zu erwarten, dennoch sollte die Behandlung sofort abgesetzt werden.
Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin, wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten. Während der Stillzeit darf Amavita Cetirizin nicht eingenommen werden, da davon auszugehen ist, dass der Wirkstoff in die Muttermilch übergeht.
Für Erwachsene und Kinder ab 6 Jahren: Die übliche Dosierung beträgt einmal täglich eine Amavita Cetirizin Filmtablette. Bei Kindern von 6 bis 12 Jahren kann die Dosierung auf zwei Einnahmen (je eine halbe Filmtablette morgens und abends) verteilt werden. Falls sich leichte Nebenerscheinungen (Müdigkeit, Kopfschmerzen, Magen-Darm-Störungen) einstellen, welche sich nicht von alleine zurückbilden, ist es auch bei Erwachsenen ratsam, je eine halbe Filmtablette morgens und abends zu nehmen.
Die Amavita Cetirizin Filmtablette sollte unzerkaut mit Flüssigkeit eingenommen werden.
Die Einnahme von Amavita Cetirizin kann zu oder unabhängig von den Mahlzeiten erfolgen. Die Behandlungsdauer richtet sich nach Art, Dauer und Verlauf der Beschwerden und wird vom Arzt oder von der Ärztin bestimmt.
Patienten oder Patientinnen mit eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion (Niereninsuffizienz) erhalten gegebenenfalls eine geringere Dosis, die sich nach dem Schweregrad der Nierenerkrankung richtet und vom behandelnden Arzt oder von der Ärztin festgelegt wird.
Sollten Sie eine Einnahme von Amavita Cetirizin vergessen, setzen Sie die Behandlung einfach fort. Nehmen Sie bitte keine doppelte Dosis ein, um eine vergessene Einnahme nachzuholen. Im Falle einer Überdosierung sollten Sie sich sofort an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin wenden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Amavita Cetirizin auftreten: Bei Behandlungsbeginn kann leichte Müdigkeit auftreten. Auch über leichte Kopfschmerzen, Konzentrationsstörungen, Schläfrigkeit, Schwindel, Mundtrockenheit, Magen-Darm-Störungen (z.B. Verstopfung) und Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen ist berichtet worden. Selten wurde unter Amavita Cetirizin-Behandlung von Krampfanfällen, Lichtempfindlichkeitsreaktionen, Leberschädigungen, allergischem Schock, Kreislaufversagen, Taubheit, Unwohlsein, Juckreiz, Venenentzündungen und Sehstörungen berichtet.
Sollte bei Ihnen eine dieser Nebenwirkungen auftreten, nehmen Sie Amavita Cetirizin nicht weiter und informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Die Filmtabletten sollen bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahrt werden.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
