Biafine ist eine Emulsion, die zur Behandlung von kleinflächigen erstgradigen Hautverbrennungen, von kleinen Wunden und nicht infizierten Verletzungen, wie Schürfungen oder Ulzera (Geschwüre) der Beine, sowie zum Schutz und zur Heilung von sensibler Haut, auf die Haut aufgetragen wird.
Auf ärztliche Verschreibung hin darf Biafine alternierend mit anderen dermatologischen Medikamenten, welche Wirkstoffe enthalten, verwendet werden.
Biafine ist keine Pflege- oder Sonnenschutzcrème. Es soll nicht im Bereich der Schleimhäute oder in der Nähe der Augen verwendet werden.
Bei ausgedehnten Verbrennungen müssen Sie unbedingt Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen.
Grossflächige, stark verschmutzte und tiefe Wunden, sowie auch Wunden von Bissen oder Stichen, müssen durch einen Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin behandelt werden (Gefahr von Wundstarrkrampf).
Wenn sich die Ausdehnungen einer Verletzung nach einer gewissen Zeit nicht verringern oder wenn sich die Wunde innerhalb von einer Woche nicht bessert, empfiehlt es sich, einen Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin aufzusuchen. Dies ist ebenfalls der Fall, wenn die Ränder der Wunde stark gerötet sind, wenn die Wunde plötzlich anschwillt, stark schmerzt oder von Fieber begleitet wird (Gefahr einer Infektion).
Biafine darf nicht angewendet werden, wenn Sie auf einen der Inhaltstoffe (siehe Was ist in Biafine enthalten?) allergisch sind. Es darf zudem nicht auf infizierte oder stark blutende Verletzungen aufgetragen werden.
Biafine darf 3 Stunden vor einer Radiotherapie nicht angewendet werden. Vermeiden Sie den Gebrauch dieser Emulsion über eine längere Zeit und dies auf grossen Flächen, ohne vorab mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin zu sprechen.
Die Anwendung und Sicherheit von Biafine Emulsion bei Kindern und Jugendlichen wurden bis heute nicht untersucht.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbst gekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. die Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin um Rat fragen.
Tragen Sie eine dicke Schicht auf bis die Haut keine Emulsion mehr aufnehmen kann. Lassen Sie die Emulsion einziehen, indem Sie diese leicht einmassieren. 2- bis 4-mal täglich wiederholen.
Nach Reinigung der Wunde eine dicke Schicht Emulsion weit über die Wundränder hinaus auftragen. Anwendung regelmässig wiederholen, so dass die Wunde die ganze Zeit reichlich mit Biafine bedeckt ist. Falls notwendig mit einer angefeuchteten Kompresse abdecken.
Verwenden Sie keine absorbierenden Verbände.
2- bis 3-mal täglich in regelmässigen Abständen leicht einmassieren
Die Anwendung und Sicherheit von Biafine Emulsion bei Kindern und Jugendlichen wurden bis heute nicht untersucht.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Medikament wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Gelegentlich wurden nach der Anwendung von Biafine vorübergehend moderate Schmerzen in der Art eines Prickelns beobachtet. Sehr selten wurde von lokalen Reaktionen der Haut (einschliesslich lokaler Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen wie z.B. leichter Veränderungen der Haut, Schwellungen, Ausschlägen oder Rötungen) berichtet. Wenn Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen auftreten (Jucken, starkes Brennen, Hautausschlag) informieren Sie bitte Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin und brechen Sie die Behandlung ab.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15 bis 25 °C) lagern. Ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren!
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
