Candesartan Helvepharm enthält als Wirkstoff Candesartan cilexetil und dient zur Behandlung des Bluthochdrucks (Hypertonie) und der Herzmuskelschwäche (Herzinsuffizienz). Candesartan Helvepharm blockiert spezifisch körpereigene Bindungsstellen (sog. Angiotensin-II-Rezeptoren). Dadurch werden die Blutgefässe erweitert und somit der Blutdruck gesenkt, respektive die Leistung des Herzens verbessert. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann Candesartan Helvepharm zur Verbesserung der Herzleistung in Kombination mit anderen Arzneimitteln oder als Ersatz für Arzneimittel, die wegen bestimmten unerwünschten Wirkungen ungeeignet sind, einsetzen.
Candesartan Helvepharm darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Candesartan Helvepharm darf bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit auf den Wirkstoff Candesartan cilexetil oder einen der Hilfsstoffe, bei Patienten mit schweren Lebererkrankungen und/oder Gallenstauung sowie in der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit nicht eingenommen werden.
Wenn Sie an Diabetes mellitus (Typ 1 oder Typ 2) leiden oder eine eingeschränkte Nierenfunktion haben und Aliskiren-enthaltende Arzneimittel zur Blutdrucksenkung einnehmen (z.B. Rasilez®), dürfen Sie Candesartan Helvepharm nicht einnehmen.
Falls früher anlässlich der Einnahme eines blutdrucksenkenden Arzneimittels Schwellungen im Gesicht, an Lippen, Zunge oder im Rachen (Schluck- oder Atembeschwerden) auftraten, dürfen Sie Candesartan Helvepharm nicht einnehmen.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen!
Es ist besonders wichtig, dass Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren, wenn Sie an einer Erkrankung der Niere oder der Leber leiden, oder wenn Sie gleichzeitig gewisse Antikoagulantien (Blutverdünner) einnehmen müssen.
Besondere Vorsicht ist auch bei Herzklappenerkrankungen geboten.
Im Weiteren sollten Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mitteilen, wenn Sie gleichzeitig zu Candesartan Helvepharm andere Arzneimittel gegen Bluthochdruck, Arzneimittel, welche die Kaliumwerte im Blut erhöhen können (z.B. bestimmte harntreibende Mittel wie kaliumsparende Diuretika, Kaliumpräparate oder Heparin), Lithiumpräparate oder regelmässig Schmerzmittel gegen rheumatische Beschwerden (nicht-steroidale Antirheumatika oder COX2-Hemmer) oder Acetylsalicylsäure (Wirkstoff von Aspirin und anderen Schmerzmitteln) einnehmen. Die Anwendung von Candesartan Helvepharm in Kombination mit Medikamenten, die den Wirkstoff Aliskiren enthalten, wird nicht empfohlen.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt oder Zahnarzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Zahnärztin vor einem operativen Eingriff mit, dass Sie Candesartan Helvepharm einnehmen. Wird dieses Arzneimittel gleichzeitig mit gewissen Anästhetika angewendet, kann ein Blutdruckabfall auftreten.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie
Wenn Sie schwanger sind, eine Schwangerschaft planen oder Ihr Kind stillen, dürfen Sie Candesartan Helvepharm nicht einnehmen. Von ähnlichen Arzneimitteln ist bekannt, dass sie bei der Anwendung während der Schwangerschaft den Fötus schädigen können. Wenn Sie während der Einnahme von Candesartan Helvepharm schwanger werden, informieren Sie sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, damit über eine Absetzung des Präparates entschieden werden kann.
Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird aufgrund regelmässiger Kontrollen die für Sie zutreffende Dosierung festlegen. Es ist sehr wichtig, dass Sie Candesartan Helvepharm jeden Tag so einnehmen, wie es Ihnen verschrieben wurde.
Candesartan Helvepharm kann unabhängig von den Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden. Am besten nehmen Sie die Tabletten immer zur gleichen Zeit, z.B. morgens, ein.
Bei der Behandlung des Bluthochdruckes beträgt die empfohlene Dosierung 8 mg einmal täglich. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann die Dosis bei Bedarf auf 16 mg einmal täglich erhöhen. Falls der Blutdruck nach 4-wöchiger Behandlung mit 16 mg einmal täglich nicht ausreichend gesenkt werden kann, kann die Dosis weiter auf maximal 32 mg einmal täglich erhöht werden.
Bei der Behandlung der Herzinsuffizienz beträgt die übliche Anfangsdosierung 4 mg Candesartan Helvepharm einmal täglich. Anschliessend wird die Dosierung über einen Zeitraum von mehreren Wochen langsam auf maximal 32 mg einmal täglich erhöht. Es ist wichtig, dass Sie die ärztliche Verschreibung genau befolgen.
Bei älteren Patienten und Patientinnen oder Patienten und Patientinnen mit einer leicht bis mässige eingeschränkten Nieren- oder Leberfunktion ist keine Dosisanpassung notwendig. Wenn Sie an einer schweren Nierenerkrankung leiden, ist es möglich, dass Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin Ihnen eine niedrigere Anfangsdosierung verschreibt.
Über die Anwendung von Candesartan Helvepharm bei Kindern und Jugendlichen liegen keine Erfahrungen vor.
Wenn Sie mehr als die vorgeschriebene Dosis eingenommen haben, kontaktieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Wenn Sie vergessen haben eine Tablette einzunehmen, dann holen Sie dies nach, sobald Sie sich daran erinnern. Ist es jedoch bald Zeit, die nächste Tablette einzunehmen, dann nehmen Sie die vergessene Tablette nicht mehr ein.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Candesartan Helvepharm auftreten:
Häufig ist von Atemwegsinfektionen, Benommenheit und Schwindel, Kopfschmerzen, Rückenschmerzen sowie tiefem Blutdruck (häufig bei Herzinsuffizienz-Patienten) berichtet worden.
Sehr selten können Schwellungen der Haut (v.a. des Gesichts, der Lippen, der Zunge, der Augen) und/oder der Schleimhaut (Angioödem), Juckreiz oder Nesselausschlag auftreten. In diesem Fall müssen Sie sofort die Einnahme von Candesartan Helvepharm unterbrechen und den Arzt oder die Ärztin aufsuchen. Sehr selten ist auch von Schwindel, Husten, Übelkeit, Lebererkrankungen (z.B. Hepatitis), Hautausschlägen, Nesselfieber, Juckreiz, eingeschränkter Funktionsfähigkeit der Niere sowie Gelenk- und Muskelschmerzen berichtet worden.
Weitere mögliche unerwünschte Wirkungen sind: Fieber, beschleunigter Puls, Herzklopfen, Brustschmerzen, Angina pectoris (Symptome wie Schmerzen im Brustkorb und/oder Schulter-Arm-Bereich, Atemnot), Herzinfarkt, Kribbeln in den Händen und Füssen, Nasenbluten, Ängstlichkeit, Depression, Atemnot und Wasseransammlungen im Gewebe.
Diese Nebenwirkungen sind nicht zwingend durch Candesartan Helvepharm verursacht, denn sie wurden auch an Patienten festgestellt, die das Arzneimittel nicht eingenommen haben.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Candesartan Helvepharm in der verschlossenen Originalpackung nicht über 30 °C und ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Falls Sie im Besitz von verfallenen Arzneimitteln sind, bringen Sie diese bitte zur Entsorgung in Ihre Apotheke zurück.
