Condyline wird aus gereinigtem, standardisiertem Podophyllotoxin hergestellt. Dieses ist der wichtigste und wirksamste Bestandteil des Podophyllins. Podophyllin ist ein harzreicher Extrakt aus der in Nordamerika verbreiteten Pflanze Podophyllum peltatum.
Während der früher häufig verwendete Podophyllin-Spiritus 20%, neben wenig aktiver Substanz (Podophyllotoxin), grössere Mengen Harz und andere wenig oder unwirksame Bestandteile enthält, besteht Condyline ausschliesslich aus dem hochwirksamen Podophyllotoxin in alkoholischer Lösung.
Condyline ist nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin zu verwenden und deren Anwendungsanleitung ist genauestens zu befolgen. Es ist bestimmt für die Behandlung von Genitalwarzen (Feig- oder Feuchtwarzen), welche durch einen Virus verursacht und normalerweise durch Geschlechtsverkehr übertragen werden.
Genitalwarzen sind ansteckend. Männliche Patienten sollten bis zur vollständigen Heilung beim Geschlechtsverkehr Kondome tragen. Die Geschlechtspartner sind anzuhalten, sich ebenfalls ärztlich untersuchen zu lassen.
Nicht anwenden auf ausgedehnten Hautbezirken, auf offenen Wunden, bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren, bei Schwangerschaft, in der Stillzeit oder bei Überempfindlichkeit auf einen enthaltenen Bestandteil.
Condyline darf nicht in die Augen gelangen. Waschen Sie sofort nach Anwendung und Verschluss des Behälters die Hände. Sollte die Lösung aus Versehen in die Augengegend geraten, muss sofort und sorgfältig mit kaltem Wasser gespült werden.
Übermässiger Alkoholgenuss ist während der Behandlung zu vermeiden, da dadurch die Resorption erhöht wird und damit toxische Wirkungen des Podophyllotoxins möglich sind.
Bedenken Sie, dass Condyline Ihnen persönlich für das gegenwärtige vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin festgestellte Leiden verschrieben wurde. Verwenden Sie es nicht ohne ärztliche Verschreibung bei späteren Erkrankungen und geben Sie es nicht an andere Personen weiter.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Während der Schwangerschaft darf Condyline nicht verwendet werden, da es zu Schädigungen des Ungeborenen führen kann. Vor der Behandlung muss sichergestellt werden, dass Sie nicht schwanger sind. Die Massnahmen zur Empfängnisverhütung, die Ihnen der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin verordnet hat, müssen Sie strikte einhalten, und zwar während der Behandlung mit Condyline sowie 4 Wochen über die Beendigung hinaus. Während der Stillzeit darf Condyline ebenfalls nicht angewendet werden.
Condyline darf nur äusserlich angewendet werden. Die Anwendung von Condyline hat durch den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin zu erfolgen. Nur nach sorgfältiger Instruktion und wenn zuerst unter ärztlicher Aufsicht durchgeführt, kann die Anwendung durch den Patienten bzw. die Patientin selber erfolgen. Die Behandlung darf nur an den vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin genau bezeichneten Stellen vorgenommen werden. Spätestens 7 Tage nach Beendigung der Behandlung ist eine ärztliche Nachkontrolle notwendig.
Vor der Behandlung werden alle infizierten Flächen mit Seife und Wasser gewaschen und sorgfältig getrocknet. Sofern der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin nichts anderes verordnet, wird Condyline zweimal täglich mit Hilfe eines Wattestäbchens, am Morgen und am Abend, an drei aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen auf die Warzen aufgetragen. Jeder Kontakt mit der umgebenden Haut oder Schleimhaut ist weit möglichst zu vermeiden. Nach Anwendung lässt man die Lösung trocknen, bevor man sich anzieht.
Wenn nötig und vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin angeordnet, kann diese Behandlung nach einer Pause von einer Woche wiederholt werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Condyline auftreten:
Condyline hemmt die Zellteilung, es können deshalb am 2. oder 3. Behandlungstag im Umfeld der Warzen, auf der normalen Haut oder Schleimhaut lokale Reizungen (wie Stechen, Jucken, Schmerzhaftigkeit, Empfindlichkeit) auftreten. Die Reaktionen sind meistens schwach. Treten beim Auftragen jedoch starke Schmerzen oder gar Hautdefekte auf oder werden Nebenwirkungen bemerkt, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15-25°C), vor Licht geschützt und ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
