Fluanxol enthält den Wirkstoff Flupentixol und gehört zur Präparategruppe der so genannten Neuroleptika. Fluanxol wird zur Behandlung von psychischen Krankheiten angewendet, bei denen das Denken, Fühlen und/oder Handeln beeinträchtigt ist. Typische Zeichen sind Verwirrungszustände, Halluzinationen (Hören oder Sehen von Dingen, die nicht wirklich da sind) und Wahnvorstellungen. Die Patienten bzw. Patientinnen können ausserdem ängstlich, angespannt oder aggressiv resp. zurückgezogen sein. Fluanxol hat eine leicht aktivierende Wirkung und eignet sich vor allem für die Behandlung von zurückgezogenen Patienten bzw. Patientinnen. Fluanxol darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Bei einer Überempfindlichkeit gegen den Wirkstoff oder einen Hilfsstoff von Fluanxol, oder gegen einen verwandten Wirkstoff, bei Alkohol-, Schlafmittel- und Opiatvergiftungen, oder bei Patienten bzw. Patientinnen im Koma darf Fluanxol nicht verwendet werden.
Bei Patienten bzw. Patientinnen mit der Parkinson-Krankheit, Leber- und Nierenfunktionsstörungen, mit Herz-Kreislauferkrankungen (v.a. mit zu tiefem Blutdruck oder mit Störungen der Herzschlagfolge), mit Epilepsie oder organischen Hirnerkrankungen, mit Myasthenia gravis (krankhafte Muskelschwäche mit gesteigerter Ermüdbarkeit der Willkürmuskulatur), mit Risikofaktoren für einen Schlaganfall (z.B. Rauchen, Bluthochdruck), mit Diabetes (die antidiabetische Therapie muss gegebenenfalls angepasst werden), mit zu tiefen Kalium- oder Magnesium-Werten im Blut oder einer genetischen Veranlagung für zu tiefe Werte soll Fluanxol mit Vorsicht verwendet werden. Aufgrund seiner aktivierenden Eigenschaften ist Fluanxol bei erregten und überaktiven Patienten bzw. Patientinnen nicht zu empfehlen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie oder jemand in Ihrer Familie an Blutgerinnsel leiden.
Fluanxol kann die Wirkung verschiedener anderer Arzneimittel, die auf das Nervensystem dämpfend wirken, wie Schlafmittel, Beruhigungsmittel, Mittel gegen Depression oder starke Schmerzmittel, beträchtlich verstärken. Vermeiden Sie den gleichzeitigen Gebrauch von anderen Neuroleptika. Die Wirkung von Arzneimitteln gegen zu hohen oder zu tiefen Blutdruck kann verändert, die Wirkung von Arzneimitteln gegen Parkinson-Krankheit vermindert werden. In allen Fällen entscheidet Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, welche Arzneimittel mit Fluanxol angewendet werden dürfen.
Fluanxol kann zu Müdigkeit führen. Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen. Sie sollten keine solchen Aktivitäten ausüben, bis Sie Ihre Reaktion auf das Arzneimittel kennen. Die Wirkung von Alkohol kann verstärkt werden, daher ist ein Verzicht auf Alkohol während der Behandlung angezeigt.
Wenn Sie Fluanxol für eine längere Zeit einnehmen, wird Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin Ihr Blutbild und Ihre Leberfunktion regelmässig kontrollieren.

Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass die Sexualität bzw. Fruchtbarkeit durch eine Behandlung mit Fluanxol beeinträchtigt wird (siehe «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Fluanxol haben?»). Bitte holen Sie ärztlichen Rat ein.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie schwanger sind, vermuten schwanger zu sein, eine Schwangerschaft planen oder stillen. Fluanxol darf während der Schwangerschaft nicht eingenommen werden, es sei denn, Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verordnet es ausdrücklich.
Bei Anwendung von Fluanxol während des letzten Drittels der Schwangerschaft können bei Neugeborenen Zittern, Muskelsteifigkeit, Schwäche, Schläfrigkeit, Erregung, Schwierigkeiten beim Atmen oder Probleme beim Füttern auftreten.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin unverzüglich im Falle einer Schwangerschaft, um das weitere Vorgehen zu besprechen. Die Behandlung soll keinesfalls aus eigenem Ermessen abgesetzt werden. Ein plötzliches Absetzen von Fluanxol kann schwerwiegende Folgen haben.
Bitte informieren Sie auch unverzüglich Ihren Frauenarzt bzw. ?ärztin oder Geburtshelfer/-in über eine Einnahme während der Schwangerschaft, insbesondere wenn beschriebene Auffälligkeiten bei Ihrem Kind nach der Geburt auftreten.
In der Stillzeit darf Fluanxol nicht eingenommen werden. Ist eine Einnahme während der Stillzeit notwendig, muss abgestillt werden.
Fluanxol ist ein hochwirksames Arzneimittel. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin stimmt die Dosierung für jeden Patienten bzw. jede Patientin persönlich ab und beurteilt, wie lange die Behandlung dauern soll. Die Anordnung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin muss streng beachtet werden. Die Dosierung von Fluanxol hängt von der Art und der Schwere des Leidens ab. Am Anfang der Therapie wird das Präparat im Allgemeinen 2 bis 3 Mal pro Tag eingenommen. Bei der längerfristigen Therapie kann Fluanxol 1x täglich eingenommen werden.
Für die längerfristige Therapie kann Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin auf Fluanxol Depot (Injektionslösung) übergehen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Fluanxol soll nicht in der Behandlung von Patientinnen bzw. Patienten unter 18 Jahren eingesetzt werden.
Bei der Einnahme von Fluanxol können Nebenwirkungen auftreten.
Falls Sie eines der folgenden Symptome feststellen, sollten Sie sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kontaktieren oder das Spital aufsuchen.
Die folgenden Nebenwirkungen sind zu Beginn der Behandlung am stärksten und klingen meistens mit fortdauernder Behandlung ab:

In seltenen Fällen könnte eine Herzrhythmusstörung zu einem plötzlichen Tod führen.
Blutgerinnsel in den Venen, insbesondere in den Beinen (die Symptome umfassen Schwellung, Schmerzen und Rötung des Beines), welche durch die Blutbahnen in die Lungen wandern, können Brustschmerzen und Atemschwierigkeiten auslösen. Wenn Sie eines dieser Symptome bemerken, ziehen Sie umgehend medizinischen Rat bei.
Es wurde bei älteren Personen mit Demenz, die Neuroleptika einnehmen im Vergleich zu solchen, die keine Neuroleptika erhalten, ein kleiner Anstieg von Todesfällen verzeichnet.
Bei Anwendung von Fluanxol während des letzten Drittels der Schwangerschaft können bei Neugeborenen Zittern, Muskelsteifigkeit, Schwäche, Schläfrigkeit, Erregung, Schwierigkeiten beim Atmen oder Probleme beim Füttern auftreten.

Fluanxol darf nur bis zu dem auf der Verpackung aufgedruckten Datum «EXP» verwendet werden.
Bitte bringen Sie das nicht verwendete Arzneimittel oder das Arzneimittel, dessen Verfalldatum abgelaufen ist, Ihrer Apotheke zur Entsorgung zurück.
Trocken und bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) aufbewahren.
Ausser Reichweite von Kindern lagern.

1 Dragée enthält 0.5 mg, 1 mg bzw. 5 mg Flupentixol als Flupentixol Dihydrochlorid, sowie als Hilfsstoffe Laktose, Kartoffelstärke, Gelatine, Talk, Magnesiumstearat, und im Überzug Saccharose, gebleichtes Wachs, Carnaubawachs und den Farbstoff Eisenoxid gelb (E172).
Die Dragées sind beige und von unterschiedlicher Form: 0.5 mg und 1 mg rund/bikonvex, 5 mg oval/bikonvex.
