+-Was ist Lamotrigin Actavis und wann wird es angewendet?

Lamotrigin Actavis enthält den Wirkstoff Lamotrigin und wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin zur Behandlung von folgenden Erkrankungen angewendet:

Epilepsie:

Lamotrigin Actavis wird bei bestimmten Epilepsieformen allein oder in Kombination mit anderen Epilepsiemitteln angewendet. Es unterdrückt die Anfälle ganz oder vermindert die Anfallshäufigkeit.

Bipolare Störung (psychische Erkrankung, bei welcher sich depressive und manische Phasen abwechseln):

Lamotrigin Actavis wird bei Erwachsenen zur Vorbeugung von depressiven Phasen angewendet.

+-Wann darf Lamotrigin Actavis nicht eingenommen werden?

Bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber dem Wirkstoff Lamotrigin oder einem der sonstigen Bestandteile des Präparates sowie bei schwerer Beeinträchtigung der Nierenfunktion.

+-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Lamotrigin Actavis Vorsicht geboten?

Unter der Behandlung mit Lamotrigin Actavis kann es zu Hautreaktionen wie Hautauschlag kommen. Die Hauterscheinungen treten meist innerhalb der ersten 8 Wochen auf. In seltenen Fällen können sie schwer verlaufen. Hauterscheinungen können auch im Rahmen von Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen wie Fieber, Lymphknotenschwellung, Gesichtschwellung, Störungen des Bluts, der Leber oder anderen Organen auftreten. Wenn während der Therapie mit Lamotrigin Actavis, insbesondere in den ersten 8 Wochen nach Therapiebeginn, ein Hautausschlag oder andere der genannten Reaktionen auftreten, ist der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin unverzüglich aufzusuchen. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird entscheiden, ob die Therapie weitergeführt werden kann. Informieren Sie auch Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie früher bereits einen Hautausschlag unter anderen antiepileptischen Arzneimitteln entwickelt haben oder wenn Sie während einer früheren Einnahme von Lamotrigin Actavis an einer sogenannten aseptischen Meningitis erkrankt sind (siehe auch «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Lamotrigin Actavis haben?»).

Eine geringe Anzahl von Patienten, die mit Lamotrigin behandelt wurden, hatten Gedanken daran, sich selbst zu verletzen oder sich das Leben zu nehmen. Diese Ereignisse traten meist bei Patientinnen und Patienten mit bipolaren Störungen auf, wurden aber auch bei Patientinnen und Patienten beobachtet, die Lamotrigin zur Behandlung von Epilepsie erhielten. Sprechen Sie umgehend mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin oder suchen Sie ein nahegelegenes Spital auf, wenn Sie unter der Behandlung mit Lamotrigin Actavis Gedanken der Selbstschädigung oder Selbsttötung haben.

Wenn Sie hormonale Empfängnisverhütungsmittel (z.B. «Pille») und gleichzeitig Lamotrigin Actavis anwenden, können Zyklusveränderungen (z.B. Durchbruchblutungen) auftreten. Sollten Sie solche Veränderungen beobachten, ist der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin unverzüglich zu benachrichtigen, da eine verminderte schwangerschaftsverhütende Wirksamkeit unter Einnahme von Lamotrigin Actavis nicht mit Sicherheit ausgeschlossen werden kann.

Ferner können hormonale Empfängnisverhütungsmittel die Wirkung von Lamotrigin Actavis beeinflussen. Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie solche anwenden, denn möglicherweise muss in diesem Fall die Dosis von Lamotrigin Actavis angepasst werden (siehe auch «Wie verwenden Sie Lamotrigin Actavis?»).

Wechselwirkungen zwischen weiteren Arzneimitteln und Lamotrigin Actavis:

Weitere Arzneimittel wie Antiepileptika (Carbamazepin, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Primidon, Valproat), Rifampicin zur Behandlung von Tuberkulose und anderen Infektionen oder Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von HIV/AIDS können die Wirkung von Lamotrigin Actavis vermindern oder verstärken. Bei gleichzeitiger Anwendung von Lamotrigin Actavis und Risperidon, einem Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von psychischen Erkrankungen, kann es vermehrt zu Schläfrigkeit kommen. Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie die genannten Arzneimittel anwenden, denn möglicherweise muss in diesem Fall die Dosis von Lamotrigin Actavis angepasst werden (siehe auch «Wie verwenden Sie Lamotrigin Actavis?»).

Lamotrigin Actavis kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen. Bevor Sie ein Fahrzeug lenken oder Maschinen bedienen, sollte die individuelle Reaktion auf Lamotrigin Actavis abgewartet und die Situation mit dem Arzt bzw. der Ärztin besprochen werden.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.

+-Darf Lamotrigin Actavis während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

Bei Kindern, deren Mütter während der Schwangerschaft Antiepileptika einnehmen, ist das Risiko einer angeborenen Fehlbildung erhöht.

Lamotrigin Actavis darf während der Schwangerschaft nicht eingenommen werden, ausser wenn dies vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin ausdrücklich verordnet wurde.

Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, wenden Sie sich baldmöglichst an Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin. Diese werden über die weitere Behandlung während der Schwangerschaft entscheiden.

Lamotrigin Actavis wird in die Muttermilch ausgeschieden. Daher ist das Stillen während einer Therapie mit Lamotrigin Actavis nicht zu empfehlen.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Lamotrigin Actavis?

Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird für jeden Patienten bzw. jede Patientin die Dosis festlegen. Sie hängt ab von der zu behandelnden Erkrankung und der gleichzeitigen Anwendung von anderen Arzneimitteln (z.B. andere Antiepileptika, hormonale Empfängnisverhütungsmittel). Zu Beginn der Therapie wird mit einer niedrigen Dosis begonnen, dann wird sie langsam bis zur optimalen Wirkung und Verträglichkeit gesteigert. Um Nebenwirkungen möglichst zu vermeiden, ist die langsame Dosissteigerung unbedingt einzuhalten. Wenn im Laufe der Behandlung andere Arzneimittel hinzukommen oder abgesetzt werden, muss die Dosis von Lamotrigin Actavis eventuell angepasst werden, das wird der behandelnde Arzt bzw. die behandelnde Ärztin entscheiden.

Wiederaufnahme der Behandlung:

Wenden Sie sich vor der Wiederaufnahme der Behandlung mit Lamotrigin Actavis an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, auch wenn Sie nur wenige Tage mit der Einnahme ausgesetzt haben.

Je nach Dosis wird Lamotrigin Actavis einmal oder zweimal täglich eingenommen. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird Sie darüber informieren. Die Tabletten können entweder zerkaut oder in einer kleinen Menge Wasser (Wasser sollte mindestens die Tablette decken) dispergiert oder mit ein wenig Flüssigkeit ganz geschluckt werden. Sie können mit oder ohne Nahrungsmittel eingenommen werden.

Lamotrigin Actavis soll in der Regel nicht plötzlich abgesetzt werden, da dadurch ein epileptischer Anfall ausgelöst werden könnte. Wenn die Behandlung mit Lamotrigin Actavis beendet werden soll, wird der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin die Dosis von Lamotrigin Actavis allmählich reduzieren, bevor die Einnahme ganz gestoppt wird. Falls medizinisch notwendig (z.B. im Falle einer Hautreaktion), wird der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin entscheiden, ob das Arzneimittel sofort abzusetzen ist.

Wenn Kinder (ab 2 Jahren) Lamotrigin Actavis zur Behandlung einer Epilepsie erhalten, wird die Dosis entsprechend dem Körpergewicht festgelegt. Lamotrigin Actavis darf nicht zur Behandlung von bipolaren Störungen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren angewendet werden.

Bei Patienten bzw. Patientinnen mit einer mässigen oder schweren Beeinträchtigung der Leberfunktion wird die Dosis von Lamotrigin Actavis reduziert.

Wenn Sie Lamotrigin Actavis zur Vorbeugung von bipolaren Störungen anwenden, tritt die volle Wirkung unter Umständen erst nach einigen Wochen ein.

Lamotrigin Actavis Tabletten gibt es in Stärken von 2 mg, 5 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg und 200 mg. Je nach der festgesetzten Dosis kann es sein, dass Sie zwei Tabletten verschiedener Stärke einnehmen müssen, z.B. für eine Dosis von 150 mg eine Tablette zu 100 mg und eine Tablette zu 50 mg.

Wenn Sie eine grössere Menge von Lamotrigin Actavis eingenommen haben, als Sie sollten, besteht eine höhere Wahrscheinlichkeit von schwerwiegenden Nebenwirkungen, die auch tödlich verlaufen könnten. Mögliche Nebenwirkungen, die nach einer Überdosis von Lamotrigin Actavis auftreten können, umfassen: Schnelle, unkontrollierbare Augenbewegungen (Nystagmus), Unsicherheit und Koordinationsstörungen, die sich auf Ihr Gleichgewicht auswirken (Ataxie), Bewusstseinseintrübung oder Ohnmacht, Anfälle (Konvulsionen) oder Koma. Wenn Sie eine grössere Menge von Lamotrigin Actavis eingenommen haben, als Sie sollten, wenden Sie sich unverzüglich an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin oder suchen Sie die Notaufnahme des nächstgelegenen Spitals auf. Wenn möglich, zeigen Sie dem Personal die Lamotrigin Actavis-Packung.

Halten Sie sich an die Vorschriften Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin. Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung! Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Lamotrigin Actavis haben?

Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Lamotrigin Actavis auftreten:

Sehr häufig: Schwindelgefühl, Kopfschmerzen, Koordinationsstörungen (Ataxie), Schläfrigkeit, Doppeltsehen, verschwommenes Sehen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Durchfall, Hautauschlag, Müdigkeit.

Häufig: Aggressivität, Reizbarkeit, Agitation, Schlaflosigkeit, Zittern (Tremor), Augenzittern (Nystagmus), Schmerzen, Gelenkschmerzen, Rückenschmerzen.

Selten: Blutbildveränderungen wie Verringerung der Zahl der weissen Blutkörperchen (Leukopenie) oder der Blutplättchen (Thrombozytopenie), Verwirrtheit, Augenbindehautentzündung (Konjunktivitis), schwerwiegende Hautreaktionen (wie Stevens-Johnson-Syndrom), Angioödem, Entzündung der Hirn- und Rückenmarkhäute (aseptische Meningitis: Leitsymptome sind Kopfschmerz, Fieber, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Nackensteifigkeit und ungewöhnliche Lichtempfindlichkeit. Daneben kann es auch zu Hautausschlag, Schüttelfrost, Verwirrtheit und Benommenheit kommen).

Sehr selten: andere Blutbildveränderungen wie andere Formen der Verringerung der Zahl weisser Blutkörperchen (Neutropenie, Agranulozytose), Verringerung der Zahl der roten Blutkörperchen (Anämie), Verringerung der Anzahl aller Blutzellen (Panzytopenie), Verringerung der Zahl der roten Blutkörperchen aufgrund einer Bildungsstörung (aplastische Anämie); Erkrankungen im Bereich der Lymphknoten (Lymphadenopathie), Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen einschliesslich Symptome wie Fieber, aufgedunsenes Gesicht, Veränderungen der Blut- und Leberwerte; Tics, Halluzinationen, Unsicherheit, Bewegungsstörungen, Verschlimmerung eines vorbestehenden Parkinson-Syndroms, Störungen des Muskeltonus und der Bewegungsabläufe (extrapyramidale Störungen, z.B. Bewegungsunruhe, Choreoathetose), Zunahme der Anfallshäufigkeit, Erhöhung der Leberwerte, Leberfunktionsstörungen, Leberversagen, Haarausfall, schwerwiegende Hautreaktionen (wie toxische epidermale Nekrolyse), Erkrankung des Gefässbindegewebes (Lupus-ähnliche Reaktionen).

Es wurden Fälle von Knochenerkrankungen einschliesslich Osteopenie und Osteoporose (Verdünnung des Knochens) und Knochenbrüche berichtet. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie Antiepileptika über eine lange Zeit anwenden, wenn bei Ihnen eine Osteoporose festgestellt wurde oder wenn Sie Steroide einnehmen.

Sie sollten Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen, wenn sich Ihre Erkrankung zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt während der Behandlung verschlechtert.

Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

+-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

Lamotrigin Actavis Tabletten sollten bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C), vor Licht und Feuchtigkeit geschützt und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahrt werden.

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP:» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

Lamotrigin Actavis kann gewisse Laboruntersuchungen zum Nachweis anderer Medikamente oder Drogen stören. Informieren Sie daher Ihren Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin, dass Sie Lamotrigin Actavis einnehmen, wenn Laboruntersuchungen durchgeführt werden sollen.
