Levetiracetam Sandoz enthält als Wirkstoff Levetiracetam und wird zur Behandlung der Epilepsie eingesetzt. Es ist ein Arzneimittel, welches epileptische Anfälle verhindert oder abschwächt (Antiepileptikum).
Angewendet wird das Präparat:
Levetiracetam Sandoz darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Levetiracetam Sandoz darf nicht eingenommen werden, wenn Sie gegenüber dem Wirkstoff (Levetiracetam) oder einem der anderen Bestandteile von Levetiracetam Sandoz überempfindlich (allergisch) reagieren.
Kontaktieren Sie umgehend Ihren Arzt, bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie eine Verschlechterung der Stimmungslage inklusive gereizter, feindseliger Stimmung, Symptome einer Depression und/oder lebensmüde Gedanken bemerken.
Beenden Sie die Behandlung mit Levetiracetam Sandoz nie abrupt ohne Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin zu konsultieren. Befolgen Sie bei Therapieabbruch die Anweisungen Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin zum schrittweisen Absetzen von Levetiracetam Sandoz.
Wechselwirkungen von Levetiracetam Sandoz mit anderen Arzneimitteln sind eher unwahrscheinlich. Teilen Sie dennoch Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie noch andere Arzneimittel anwenden.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann zu unerwünschten Wirkungen wie Benommenheit oder Schläfrigkeit führen und somit die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen!
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbst gekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Während der Schwangerschaft darf Levetiracetam Sandoz nicht angewendet werden, es sei denn, der behandelnde Arzt oder die behandelnde Ärztin hält es für unverzichtbar. Informieren Sie bitte Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, falls Sie schwanger sind oder beabsichtigen, schwanger zu werden. Im Falle einer Schwangerschaft wird Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin Nutzen und Risiko einer Behandlung mit Levetiracetam Sandoz gegeneinander abwägen. Der Abbruch einer epileptischen Behandlung kann zur Verschlimmerung der Krankheit mit negativen Folgen für die Mutter und das ungeborene Kind führen.
Während der Behandlung mit Levetiracetam Sandoz dürfen Sie Ihr Kind nicht stillen.
Die Dosis wird speziell an das Ausmass Ihrer Erkrankung angepasst und beträgt für Erwachsene und Kinder ab 12 Jahren (ab 40 kg) in der Regel 500 mg zweimal täglich. Je nach Ansprechen auf die Behandlung und die Verträglichkeit kann Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin die Dosis bis auf zweimal täglich 1500 mg erhöhen. Bei Kindern von 4 bis 12 Jahren (unter 40 kg) beträgt die Dosis 10 bis 30 mg/kg zweimal täglich. Die Behandlung bei Kindern sollte vorzugsweise mit einer Levetiracetam-Lösung (unter einem anderen Handelsnamen verfügbar) begonnen werden.
Die Filmtabletten sollen zweimal täglich, morgens und abends, ungefähr zur gleichen Uhrzeit eingenommen werden. Die Filmtabletten werden zusammen mit einer ausreichenden Menge Flüssigkeit (z.B. mit einem Glas Wasser) geschluckt. Levetiracetam Sandoz kann unabhängig von einer Mahlzeit eingenommen werden.
Bei älteren Patienten und Patientinnen sowie bei Patienten und Patientinnen mit Nieren- und/oder Leberbeschwerden wird die Arzneimitteldosis möglicherweise speziell angepasst.
Benachrichtigen Sie bitte Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, falls Sie eine oder mehrere Einnahmen vergessen haben. Nehmen Sie keine doppelte Dosis ein, um vergessene Einzeldosen nachzuholen. Benachrichtigen Sie bitte ebenfalls Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, falls Sie mehr Filmtabletten als vorgeschrieben eingenommen haben.
Levetiracetam Sandoz ist zur Langzeitbehandlung vorgesehen. Befolgen Sie unbedingt die Anweisungen Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin und setzen Sie die Behandlung keinesfalls ohne Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin ab. Genauso wie andere antiepileptische Arzneimittel sollte Levetiracetam Sandoz schrittweise abgesetzt werden, um häufigere Anfälle zu vermeiden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Levetiracetam Sandoz auftreten:
Am häufigsten sind Schläfrigkeit und Schwächegefühl.
Andere, unter der Behandlung mit Levetiracetam häufig berichtete Nebenwirkungen sind:
Entzündungen des Nasen-Rachen-Raumes.
Verminderte Anzahl der roten Blutkörperchen, der weissen Blutkörperchen und/oder der Blutplättchen.
Appetitlosigkeit, Gewichtszunahme, Gewichtsverlust.
Benommenheit, Krämpfe, Kopfschmerzen, mangelnde Koordination der Bewegungen, Zittern, Hyperaktivität, Agitation, Gleichgewichtsstörungen, Aufmerksamkeitsstörungen, Beeinträchtigung des Gedächtnisses, anormales Verhalten, Persönlichkeitsveränderungen, Aggression, Wut, Angst, Verwirrtheit, Depression, lebensmüde Gedanken, selbstverletzendes Verhalten, Suizid (Selbstmord), Stimmungsschwankungen, Halluzination, Feindseligkeit, Schlaflosigkeit, Reizbarkeit, Nervosität, anormales Denken, Konzentrationsschwierigkeiten, psychotische Störungen und Missempfindung (z.B. Kribbeln oder Taubheit).

Schwindel.
Vermehrter Husten.
Bauchschmerzen, Übelkeit, Verdauungsstörungen, Durchfall, Erbrechen, Bauchspeicheldrüsen-Entzündung.
Hepatitis (Leberentzündung), Leberversagen.
Hautausschlag, Ekzem, Juckreiz, Haarausfall, Blasenbildung der Haut, im Mund, an den Augen und im Genitalbereich.
Muskelschmerzen.
Kraftlosigkeit, Müdigkeit, zufällige Verletzungen.
Einige der erwähnten Nebenwirkungen wie z.B. Schläfrigkeit, Schwächegefühl und Benommenheit können zu Behandlungsbeginn oder bei einer Dosissteigerung häufiger auftreten.
