Micardis gehört zu einer Gruppe blutdrucksenkender Arzneimittel, die Angiotensin-II-Antagonisten (Typ AT1) genannt werden, und enthält den Wirkstoff Telmisartan.
Micardis wird zur Senkung eines erhöhten Blutdrucks (Hypertonie) angewendet.
Micardis wird ebenfalls zur Vorbeugung von Herzinfarkt und Schlaganfall bei Patienten angewendet, die bereits ein erhöhtes Risiko für solche Ereignisse haben und/oder die an Diabetes mellitus (Zuckerkrankheit) vom Typ 2 leiden. Ihr Arzt kann Ihnen Auskunft geben, ob Sie zu diesen Betroffenen gehören.
Micardis darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Micardis darf nicht eingenommen werden, wenn Sie überempfindlich oder allergisch sind gegen Telmisartan oder einen anderen Tablettenbestandteil oder wenn Sie wegen einer seltenen Erbkrankheit (Fruktose-Intoleranz) Sorbitol nicht vertragen.
Wenn Sie schwanger sind, dürfen Sie Micardis nicht einnehmen.
Wenn Sie während der Einnahme dieses Arzneimittels schwanger werden, müssen Sie umgehend Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verständigen. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin auch, wenn Sie eine Schwangerschaft planen. Dies ist deshalb wichtig, weil Arzneimittel mit dieser Art von Wirkung bei Einnahme nach dem dritten Schwangerschaftsmonat schwere Schädigungen bei dem sich entwickelnden Kind hervorrufen können. Wenn Sie stillen darf Micardis ebenfalls nicht eingenommen werden.
Weiter darf Micardis nicht angewendet werden bei starken Leberfunktionsstörungen, bei Gallenstauung und wenn Sie an einer Gallenwegsobstruktion (Abflussstörungen der Gallenflüssigkeit aus der Gallenblase) leiden.
Falls früher anlässlich der Einnahme eines blutdrucksenkenden Arzneimittels Schwellungen im Gesicht, an Lippen, Zunge oder im Rachen (Schluck- oder Atembeschwerden) auftraten, dürfen Sie Micardis nicht einnehmen.
Falls Sie ein blutdrucksenkendes Arzneimittel mit dem Wirkstoff Aliskiren einnehmen und an Diabetes mellitus (Typ 1 oder Typ 2) oder an eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion leiden.
Micardis darf bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren nicht verabreicht werden.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie an einer Nierenerkrankung leiden oder Ihnen eine Niere transplantiert wurde, wenn Sie an einer Lebererkrankung, Durchfall oder Erbrechen leiden, wenn Sie Diabetes mellitus (Zuckerkrankheit) haben oder wenn Sie eine Erkrankung des Herzens haben. Informieren Sie auch Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie eine salzarme Diät einhalten, hohe Blutkaliumwerte haben und wenn Sie andere Arzneimittel, insbesondere Diuretika («Entwässerungstabletten»), andere Arzneimittel zur Senkung des Blutdrucks, Lithium oder Digoxin einnehmen.
Micardis kann die blutdrucksenkende Wirkung anderer blutdrucksenkender Mittel verstärken.
Falls Micardis gleichzeitig mit nichtsteroidalen Schmerzmitteln (einschliesslich Acetylsalicylsäure) eingenommen wird, sollte auf genügende Flüssigkeitseinnahme geachtet und die Nierenfunktion zu Beginn der Kombinationstherapie untersucht werden.
Vorsicht ist geboten, wenn Sie mit einem ACE-Hemmer oder Aliskiren (Arzneimittel gegen Bluthochdruck) behandelt werden.
Sorbitol: Micardis Tabletten zu 40 mg enthalten 169 mg Sorbitol, diejenigen zu 80 mg enthalten 337 mg Sorbitol. Wenn Sie an einer erblichen Fruktose-Intoleranz leiden, sollten Sie dieses Arzneimittel nicht einnehmen.
Aufgrund möglicher Nebenwirkungen kann dieses Arzneimittel die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit Maschinen zu bedienen beeinträchtigen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden (Externa)!
Micardis darf weder in der Schwangerschaft noch in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden. Wenn Sie während der Einnahme von Micardis schwanger werden, informieren Sie sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, der/die über eine Absetzung des Präparates entscheiden wird (siehe auch «Wann darf Micardis nicht angewendet werden?»).
Die folgenden Angaben gelten für Micardis Tabletten zu 40 mg oder 80 mg, soweit Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin es Ihnen nicht anders verschrieben hat. Bitte beachten Sie diese Anweisungen, anderenfalls wird Micardis bei Ihnen nicht optimal wirken.
Die empfohlene Dosis ist einmal täglich 40 mg (1 Tablette zu 40 mg). Wird Ihr Blutdruck dadurch nicht angemessen gesenkt, kann Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin die Dosis bis auf 80 mg täglich erhöhen (2 Tabletten zu 40 mg oder 1 Tablette zu 80 mg).
Die empfohlene Dosis ist einmal täglich 80 mg.
Bei Patientinnen und Patienten mit Lebererkrankungen (leicht bis mittelstark eingeschränkter Leberfunktion) soll bei der Behandlung des Blutdrucks eine Tagesdosis von 40 mg nicht überschritten werden. Zur Vorbeugung von Herzinfarkt und Schlaganfall bei Patientinnen und Patienten mit Lebererkrankungen ist Micardis nicht geeignet.
Die Tabletten sollen immer zur gleichen Tageszeit (z.B. morgens) mit einer ausreichenden Menge an Flüssigkeit geschluckt werden. Sie können Micardis zu oder zwischen den Mahlzeiten einnehmen.
Im Falle einer Überdosis benachrichtigen Sie sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder setzen Sie sich mit der Notaufnahme des nächsten Krankenhauses in Verbindung.
Wenn Sie vergessen haben Ihr Arzneimittel einzunehmen, sollten Sie, sobald Sie dies bemerken, die Dosis am gleichen Tag zu sich nehmen. Ist dies nicht mehr möglich, nehmen Sie Ihre verschriebene Dosis von Micardis am nächsten Tag ein; nehmen Sie keine doppelte Dosis.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Über Fälle von allergischen Reaktionen mit Schwellung der Lippen und/oder des Gesichtes (angioneurotisches Ödem), Jucken, Hautausschlag und Nesselausschlag (Urtikaria) wurde berichtet. Sollten Sie solche Symptome bei sich verspüren, so ist sofort der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin zu benachrichtigen.
Infektionen der oberen Atemwege einschliesslich Hals- und Nasennebenhöhlenentzündung sowie Bronchitis; Harnwegsinfektionen, Infektionen bis hin zur Blutvergiftung (Sepsis), Blutarmut (Anämie) und andere Blutbildveränderungen, Überempfindlichkeit, allergische Reaktion, Kaliumüberschuss, Senkung der Blutzuckerspiegel (Hypoglykämie) (bei Diabetikern), Schlaflosigkeit, Angstgefühle, Depression, Gefühl von Ohnmacht, Sehstörungen, Schwindel, zu tiefer Blutdruck, zu schneller Puls oder zu langsamer Puls, Kurzatmigkeit, Bauchschmerzen, Durchfall, Blähungen, Magenbeschwerden, Erbrechen, Mundtrockenheit; Funktionsstörung der Leber (äussert sich in Symptomen wie Oberbauchschmerzen, Übelkeit, hellem Stuhl, dunklem Urin), Schwitzen, Hautrötungen, Ekzem; Hautreaktionen (Ausschlag, Juckreiz und ähnliches), Muskelschmerzen, Muskelkrämpfe (Wadenkrämpfe), Rücken-, Gelenk- und Beinschmerzen, Sehnenentzündung-ähnliche Symptome; Beeinträchtigung der Nierenfunktion einschliesslich eines akuten Nierenversagens, Brustschmerzen, Schwäche, grippeähnliche Symptome, Veränderung von gewissen Laborwerten.
Wenn bei Ihnen solche oder andere Beschwerden auftreten und länger andauern oder als störend empfunden werden, suchen Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin auf oder informieren Sie Ihren Apotheker bzw. Ihre Apothekerin.
Die Tabletten sollten bis zu ihrer Anwendung in der Folienpackung verbleiben.
Bewahren Sie dieses Arzneimittel für Kinder unzugänglich auf.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) lagern.
