+-Was ist Monoprost und wann wird es angewendet?

Monoprost Augentropfen enthalten das Prostaglandin Latanoprost als Wirkstoff und werden zur Senkung des Augeninnendruckes beim Weitwinkel-Glaukom (grüner Star) und bei erhöhtem Augeninnendruck angewendet. Erhöhter Augeninnendruck kann den Sehnerv schädigen und zu einer Verschlechterung des Sehvermögens führen.

Auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin.

+-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

Hinweis für Kontaktlinsenträger

Kontaktlinsen müssen vor der Anwendung von Monoprost herausgenommen und dürfen erst 15 Minuten nach der Anwendung von Monoprost wieder eingesetzt werden.

+-Wann darf Monoprost nicht angewendet werden?

Bei einer bekannten oder vermuteten Überempfindlichkeit (Allergie) auf einen Inhaltsstoff von Monoprost.

+-Wann ist bei der Anwendung von Monoprost Vorsicht geboten?

Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin bzw. Ihrem Apotheker oder Ihrer Apothekerin:

  • wenn Sie bald eine Augenoperation haben oder kürzlich gehabt haben (einschliesslich einer Kataraktoperation (grauer Star)),
  • wenn Sie Augenprobleme haben (wie Augenschmerzen, Irritationen oder Entzündungen, verschwommenes Sehen),
  • wenn Sie eine Augeninfektion mit Herpesviren hatten oder haben
  • wenn Sie an trockenen Augen leiden

Bei mehr als 2 von 3 der Patienten und Patientinnen mit gemischt farbigen Augen, v.a. bei jenen die braun enthalten, führt Monoprost zu einer Verdunkelung der Iris (Regenbogenhaut). Diese Veränderung der Augenfarbe erfolgt sehr langsam; sie kann für immer bleiben. Falls Sie nur ein Auge behandeln, könnten Sie eine unterschiedliche Färbung Ihrer Augen bemerken.

Wenn Sie gemischt farbige Augen haben, sollten Sie zuerst mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin sprechen, bevor Sie mit einer Behandlung beginnen. Kontaktieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, falls sich eine verstärkte Pigmentierung der Iris entwickelt.

Falls Sie an Asthma leiden, informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin (beachten Sie bitte den Abschnitt: «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Monoprost haben?»).

Die Anwendung von Monoprost bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren wird nicht empfohlen, da noch keine entsprechenden Erfahrungen vorliegen.

Monoprost enthält Makrogolglycerol hydroxystearat (aus Ricinusöl), welches Hautreaktionen hervorrufen kann.

Unmittelbar nach der Anwendung kann die Sicht verschwommen sein. Warten Sie deshalb, bis diese Erscheinung abklingt, bevor Sie Fahrzeuge lenken oder Maschinen bedienen.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder am Auge anwenden! 

+-Darf Monoprost während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit angewendet werden?

Monoprost darf während der Schwangerschaft oder Stillzeit nicht angewendet werden, ausser wenn dies von Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin ausdrücklich verordnet wird.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Monoprost?

Erwachsene

1 Tropfen Monoprost 1× täglich in jedes erkrankte Auge eintropfen, vorzugsweise abends.

Häufigere Gaben setzen die gewünschte Wirkung herab.

Sollten Sie einmal eine Dosis vergessen haben, kann die Therapie mit der nächsten (Abend-) Dosis normal weitergeführt werden. Verdoppeln Sie in diesem Fall die Tropfenzahl nicht.

Falls Sie andere Augentropfen zusammen mit Monoprost anwenden, sollten Sie einen Abstand von mindestens 5 Minuten zwischen jeder Anwendung einhalten.

Wenn Sie zu viele Tropfen in Ihr Auge geträufelt haben, kann es vorübergehend zu geringfügigen Irritationen im Auge kommen und Ihre Augen können tränen und rot werden. Falls Sie sich Sorgen machen, fragen Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin um Rat.

Falls Sie Monoprost versehentlich eingenommen haben, kontaktieren Sie bitte Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.

Falls Sie die Behandlung mit Monoprost abbrechen möchten, fragen Sie bitte vorgängig Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.

Korrekte Anwendung:

Die Augentropfen befinden sich in Monodosenbehältnissen. Einmal geöffnet, müssen die Monodosen sofort verwendet und nach Gebrauch entsorgt werden. Bitte befolgen Sie die folgende Anleitung:

  1. Waschen Sie Ihre Hände und setzen oder stellen Sie sich bequem hin.
  2. Benutzen Sie Ihre Finger und ziehen Sie sanft das untere Augenlid des betroffenen Auges herunter.
  3. Bringen Sie die Spitze des Monodosenbehälters in die Nähe des Auges, aber berühren Sie es nicht.
  4. Drücken Sie den Monodosenbehälter vorsichtig, so dass nur 1 Tropfen ins Auge gelangt, lassen Sie dann das untere Augenlid wieder los.

5. Drücken Sie mit einem Finger gegen die Ecke des betroffenen Auges zur Nase hin. Halten Sie den Druck für 1 Minute bei geschlossenem Auge.

6. Falls von Ihrem Arzt angeordnet wiederholen Sie die Anwendung am anderen Auge.

7. Entsorgen Sie den Monodosenbehälter nach dem Gebrauch. Auf keinen Fall sollten Sie ihn wiederverwenden.

Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin. 

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Monoprost haben?

Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Monoprost auftreten:

Sehr häufig treten Augenirritationen wie Brennen, Kratzen, Jucken, Stechen und Fremdkörpergefühl, eine Verdunkelung, Verdickung oder Verlängerung sowie eine Zunahme der Anzahl der Wimpern auf.
Häufig wurde  über Augenschmerzen, Rötung der Augen und Entzündung des Lidrandes berichtet. Gelegentlich kann eine Schwellung des Lides oder ein Hautausschlag auftreten. Selten wurde auch über Kopfschmerzen, Schwindel, Atemnot, verschwommenes Sehen, Lichtempfindlichkeit, Entzündung der Horn- oder Bindehaut, örtliche Hautreaktionen am Lid, Veränderung des Augenlids, Verdunkelung der Augenlider sowie Muskel- und Gelenkschmerzen berichtet. In seltenen Fällen kann Monoprost eine Veränderung der feinen Härchen um das Auge verursachen, wie Verdunkelung, Verdickung und Verlängerung sowie eine Zunahme der Anzahl dieser Haare. Selten können die Wimpern durch fehlgerichtetes Wachstum Augenirritationen verursachen.

Bei 48?85% der Patienten und Patientinnen mit gemischt farbigen Augen, v.a. bei jenen mit brauner Grundfarbe, führt Monoprost zu einer Zunahme des braunen Pigmentanteils der Iris (Regenbogenhaut) (siehe unter «Wann ist bei der Anwendung von Monoprost Vorsicht geboten?»).

Bei vereinzelten Patienten und Patientinnen wurden Asthma oder eine Verstärkung des Asthmas sowie akute Asthma-Attacken ausgelöst. In einem solchen Fall ist der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin aufzusuchen.

Sehr selten treten Brustschmerzen oder eine Verschlimmerung einer vorbestehenden Angina pectoris auf.

Fälle von Hornhautentzündungen durch Herpesviren sind beschrieben worden.

Bei vereinzelten Patienten und Patientinnen, denen infolge einer Staroperation die Linse aus dem Auge entfernt wurde, ist im Laufe der Therapie mit Monoprost eine Abnahme der Sehschärfe festgestellt worden. In einem solchen Fall ist der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin aufzusuchen.

Falls Nebenwirkungen wie z.B. Verfärbung der Iris (Regenbogenhaut) mit Schmerzen und Lichtscheu oder plötzlicher Trübung des Sehens auftreten, sollten Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

+-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

Das ungeöffnete Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

Das Arzneimittel muss in der Originalpackung und bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) gelagert werden.

Nach dem erstmaligen Öffnen des Sachets müssen die Monodosenbehälter innerhalb von 7 Tagen verwendet werden.

Nach dem erstmaligen Öffnen des Monodosenbehälters muss dessen Inhalt sofort verwendet werden und der Monodosenbehälter nachher entsorgt werden. Monoprost enthält kein Konservierungsmittel.

Wie alle Arzneimittel sollte Monoprost ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahrt werden.

1 ml Monoprost enthält als Wirkstoff 50 µg Latanoprost und die Hilfsstoffe Macrogolglycerol hydroxystearat, Sorbitol, Carbomer, Macrogol, Dinatrium edetate, Natriumhydroxid (zur pH Einstellung), Wasser zu Injektionszwecken.
