Mucoseptal ist ein Medikament, das den Wirkstoff Carbocistein enthält. Diese Substanz, die als Mukolytikum bezeichnet wird, verflüssigt den zähen Bronchialschleim, der bei einigen Erkrankungen der Atemwege gebildet wird. Mucoseptal erleichtert das Abhusten, indem es gegen die übermässige Schleimbildung bei erkältungsbedingtem Husten wirkt.
Auf Empfehlung des Arztes kann Mucoseptal auch bei akuten oder chronischen Atemwegserkrankungen, Bronchitis, Tracheobronchitis oder Nasennebenhöhlenentzündungen verwendet werden.
Sie können die Wirksamkeit von Mucoseptal erhöhen, wenn Sie während der Behandlung genügend trinken.
Rauchen trägt dazu bei, dass sich übermässig viel Bronchialschleim bildet, und löst Husten aus. Wenn Sie das Rauchen aufgeben, kann dies die Wirkung von Mucoseptal nur verbessern.
Bei Magen- oder Zwölffingerdarmgeschwüren sowie bei Überempfindlichkeit auf den Wirkstoff oder einen anderen Inhaltsstoff von Mucoseptal.
Zudem darf Mucoseptal nicht an Kinder unter zwölf Jahren verabreicht werden.
Wenn Sie einmal an einem Magen- oder Zwölffingerdarmgeschwür gelitten haben oder wenn Sie früher mit einem Medikament behandelt wurden, das den gleichen Wirkstoff wie Mucoseptal enthält, und dabei Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen festgestellt haben (siehe «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Mucoseptal haben?»), dürfen Sie Mucoseptal nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt einnehmen.
Während der Behandlung mit Mucoseptal dürfen Sie kein hustenstillendes Medikament einnehmen, da die gleichzeitige Einnahme eines Hustenmittels den Hustenreflex hemmt, was das Abhusten des verflüssigten Schleims behindern kann; dies erhöht das Risiko von Bronchospasmen und Atemwegsinfektionen.
Falls Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen auftreten, müssen Sie die Einnahme des Medikaments sofort abbrechen und unverzüglich Ihren Arzt informieren.
Suchen Sie Ihrem Arzt auf, wenn Ihr Husten mehr als 14 Tage anhält, damit er abklären kann, welche Krankheit den Husten verursacht.
Wenn Sie an Nierenfunktionsstörungen leiden, wird Ihr Arzt bei Ihnen regelmässig Untersuchungen vornehmen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Medikamente (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.
Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten oder wenn Sie Ihr Kind stillen, sollten Sie vorsichtshalber auf Medikamente verzichten. Bei Mucoseptal ist nicht bekannt, ob es unerwünschte Wirkungen für das ungeborene Kind oder den Säugling haben kann.
Sicherheitshalber dürfen Sie Mucoseptal deshalb nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie schwanger sind oder stillen.
Bei Erwachsenen: 3mal 2 Kapseln pro Tag, am besten vor den Mahlzeiten.
Bei Kindern: Mucoseptal darf nicht an Kinder unter zwölf Jahren verabreicht werden.
Halten Sie sich an die Dosierung, die in dieser Packungsbeilage angegeben ist oder die Ihnen Ihr Arzt verschrieben hat. Wenn Sie glauben, das Medikament wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten.
Bei der Einnahme von Mucoseptal können die folgenden unerwünschten Wirkungen auftreten:
Gelegentlich: Magen-Darm-Beschwerden wie Übelkeit, Bauchschmerzen, Erbrechen oder Durchfall.
In seltenen Fällen: Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen (Allergien) mit Juckreiz, Nesselausschlag, anderen Hautausschlägen oder Atembeschwerden.
In diesen Fällen dürfen Sie Mucoseptal keineswegs weiter einnehmen und müssen unverzüglich Ihren Arzt benachrichtigen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten, wenn Sie weitere Nebenwirkungen feststellen.
Bei Zimmertemperatur (15?25 °C) aufbewahren.
Das Medikament ist ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren.
Das Medikament darf nur bis zum auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
