Nimotop enthält als Wirkstoff Nimodipin, das zur Gruppe der sogenannten Calciumantagonisten gehört. Nimotop bewirkt eine Weitstellung der Gehirngefässe (Arterien) und damit eine verbesserte Durchblutung des Gehirnes nach einem Schlaganfall. Die schädigende Auswirkung auf das Nervensystem durch einen Schlaganfall wird durch Nimotop verringert.
Nimotop darf nur auf Verschreibung und unter ständiger Kontrolle eines Arztes bzw. einer Ärztin verwendet werden.
Falls Sie an einer Überempfindlichkeit gegen den Wirkstoff Nimodipin oder einem der Hilfsstoffe (siehe Abschnitt «Was ist in Nimotop enthalten?») leiden, dürfen Sie Nimotop nicht einnehmen.
Falls Sie Arzneimittel mit den Wirkstoffen Rifampicin (ein Antibiotikum), Phenobarbital, Phenytoin oder Carbamazepin (Mittel zur Behandlung von epileptischen Krämpfen und Anfällen) anwenden, dürfen Sie Nimotop nicht einnehmen.
Bei erhöhtem Wassergehalt des Gehirngewebes (generalisiertes Hirnödem) oder erhöhtem Hirndruck sollten Nimotop Lacktabletten vorsichtig angewandt werden. Bei bestehenden Leberschädigungen ist die Leberfunktion zu kontrollieren.
Bei Patienten bzw. Patientinnen mit erhöhtem Blutdruck, die blutdrucksenkende Mittel erhalten, kann Nimotop die blutdrucksenkende Wirkung der Begleitmedikation verstärken. Auch bei Kombination mit anderen Arzneimitteln kann es zu einer unerwünschten Verstärkung der Wirkung von Nimotop kommen. Besondere Vorsicht ist daher geboten, wenn Sie Nimotop zusammen mit einem dieser Arzneimittel einnehmen:
Cimetidin (ein Mittel gegen übermässige Produktion von Magensäure).
Erythromycin, Quinupristin, Dalfopristin (Antibiotika).
Zidovudin, Ritonavir (Mittel gegen HIV).
Ketokonazol (ein Mittel gegen Pilzinfektionen).
Fluoxetin, Nefazodon (Mittel gegen Depressionen).
Valproinsäure (ein Mittel zur Behandlung der Epilepsie).
Während der Behandlung mit Nimotop sollte kein Grapefruitsaft eingenommen werden, da dieser eine unerwünschte verstärkte Wirkung von Nimotop zur Folge haben kann.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbst gekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Nimotop darf während der gesamten Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit nicht angewandt werden, ausser Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin verordnet es ausdrücklich. Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie schwanger sind, eine Schwangerschaft planen oder stillen.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin setzt die Dosierung fest. Die folgende Dosierungsempfehlung ist lediglich als Hinweis zu betrachten:
Tagesdosis: 6× 2 Nimotop-Lacktabletten (= 6× 60 mg Nimodipin).
Im Allgemeinen nimmt man die Lacktabletten unabhängig von den Mahlzeiten unzerkaut mit etwas Flüssigkeit ein. Der Abstand zwischen den jeweiligen Einnahmezeiten sollte 4 Stunden nicht unterschreiten. Für Nimotop-Lacktabletten wird eine Behandlungsdauer von etwa 7 Tagen empfohlen.
Bei schweren Nieren- oder Leberfunktionsstörungen, speziell Leberzirrhose, können Wirkungen und Nebenwirkungen ? z.B. Blutdrucksenkung ? stärker ausgeprägt sein; in solchen Fällen sollte die Dosis in Abhängigkeit von Blutdruckkontrollen gegebenenfalls verringert werden.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können gelegentlich bei der Einnahme von Nimotop auftreten:
Kopfschmerzen; milde allergische Reaktionen (Gesichtsrötung, Hautausschläge, Wärmegefühl) Übelkeit, unerwünscht starke Blutdrucksenkung, verlangsamter Puls.
Selten führt die Einahme von Nimotop Tabletten zu einem erhöhten Puls oder zu Verstopfung.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Nimotop ist ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
