Novalgin enthält als Wirkstoff Metamizol (auch unter dem Namen Novaminsulfon bekannt), ein schmerzlinderndes, krampflösendes und fiebersenkendes Medikament aus der Gruppe der sogenannten Pyrazolone. Es wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin für folgende Anwendungen eingesetzt: starke Schmerzen und hohes Fieber welche nicht auf andere Massnahmen reagieren.
Sie dürfen Novalgin nicht anwenden:
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen!
Metamizol kann gelegentlich zu Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen führen. Wenn sich unter der Behandlung Juckreiz, Hautrötung, Nesselfieber, Schwellungen z.B. des Gesichtes, Atemnot oder Benommenheit einstellen, ist sofort der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin zu benachrichtigen und das Medikament abzusetzen.
Wenn Sie früher auf andere Schmerz- oder Fiebermittel, Farb- oder Konservierungsmittel oder Alkohol Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen durchgemacht haben, oder wenn Sie an Asthma leiden, an chronischem Nesselfieber, oder an chronischem Schnupfen, müssen Sie dies Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin unbedingt mitteilen (siehe «Wann darf Novalgin nicht angewendet werden?»). In diesen Situationen ist das Risiko von Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen erhöht. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird dann Novalgin nur aus zwingenden Gründen und unter besonders sorgfältiger medizinischer Überwachung anwenden.
Novalgin kann vereinzelt zu Blutdruckabfall führen. Diese Gefahr ist erhöht bei vorhandenem erniedrigtem Blutdruck mit Blutvolumenmangel, vermindertem Körperwasser, instabilen Kreislauf und erhöhtem Fieber.
Wenn sich unter der Behandlung Fieber, Halsschmerzen, Schluckbeschwerden, eine Entzündung im Mund, allgemeines Unwohlsein, Blutergüsse oder Blutungen einstellen, müssen Sie Novalgin sofort absetzen und sofort den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin aufsuchen. Solche Zeichen können Folge einer Verminderung der weissen Blutkörperchen (Agranulozytose oder Panzytopenie) sein; diese lebensgefährliche Schädigung des Blutes kann manchmal durch Metamizol verursacht werden und muss unverzüglich behandelt werden.
Wenn während der Behandlung schwere Hautreaktionen wie zunehmender Hautausschlag mit Hautbläschen und Schleimhautläsionen auftreten, müssen Sie Novalgin sofort und definitiv absetzen und einen Arzt konsultieren.
Wenn Sie an schweren Störungen der Nieren- oder Leberfunktion leiden, wird der Arzt bzw. Ärztin Novalgin nur aus zwingenden Gründen anwenden.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie gleichzeitig Ciclosporin (ein Medikament gegen Abstossungsreaktionen nach Organtransplantationen) einnehmen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie gleichzeitig Methotrexat einnehmen.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie gleichzeitig Aspirin einnehmen.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie gleichzeitig Bupropion (Antidepressivum, das auch bei Tabakmissbrauch hilft) einnehmen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie schwanger sind oder während der Behandlung schwanger werden möchten. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird Ihnen Novalgin in der Schwangerschaft nur verordnen, wenn Sie es eindeutig benötigen. Im ersten und letzten Trimester darf Novalgin nicht angewendet werden.
Stoffwechselprodukte des Metamizols gehen in die Muttermilch über. Bis 48 Stunden nach Verabreichung von Novalgin darf nicht gestillt werden.
Tabletten: Bei Erwachsenen wird als Einzeldosis üblicherweise 1-2 Tabletten à 500 mg verordnet, wenn nötig bis 4× innerhalb von 24 Stunden. Eine Menge von 6-8 Tabletten à 500 mg/Tag wird in der Regel nicht überschritten.
Nehmen Sie die Tabletten unzerkaut im Sitzen (nicht liegend) mit einem halben Glas Wasser oder Flüssigkeit, so sind sie am besten zu schlucken.
Tropfen: Die folgenden Dosierungsangaben beruhen auf dem Verhältnis 1 ml Lösung = 20 Tropfen (bei senkrechter Haltung der Flasche). Soweit nicht anders verordnet, gelten die Angaben der folgenden Tabelle. Die angegebene Einzeldosis kann bis zu viermal täglich verabreicht werden.
Erwachsene und Jugendliche ab 15 Jahre: 20-40 Tropfen.
Kinder 46-53 kg (ca. 13-14 Jahre): 15-35 Tropfen.
Kinder 31-45 kg (ca. 10-12 Jahre): 10-30 Tropfen.
Kinder 24-30 kg (ca. 7-9 Jahre): 8-20 Tropfen.
Kinder 16-23 kg (ca. 4-6 Jahre): 5-15 Tropfen.
Kinder 9-15 kg (ca. 1-3 Jahre): 3-10 Tropfen.
Säuglinge 5-8 kg (ca. 3-11 Monate): 2-5 Tropfen.
Zäpfchen: Bei Erwachsenen wird üblicherweise 1 Zäpfchen à 1?000 mg verordnet, wenn nötig bis 4× innerhalb von 24 Stunden. Trennen Sie ein eingesiegeltes Zäpfchen vom Streifen ab und entnehmen Sie dieses durch Auseinanderziehen der Folienlaschen.
Injektionslösung: Zur Behandlung von akuten schweren Schmerzzuständen steht dem Arzt bzw. der Ärztin auch Novalgin Injektionslösung in Ampullen zur Verfügung. Die Dosierung und Anwendung erfolgt durch den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin.
Hinweis: Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme oder Anwendung von Novalgin auftreten:
Bezüglich Verminderung der weissen Blutkörperchen und in Zusammenhang mit dieser ernsten Störung auftretenden Warnzeichen, siehe «Wann ist bei der Anwendung von Novalgin Vorsicht geboten?».
Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen der Haut und Schleimhäute treten gelegentlich auf. Dazu zählen Hautausschläge, Juckreiz, Hautrötungen, Nesselfieber, Schwellungen (z.B. des Gesichtes), Atemnot, Magen-Darm-Beschwerden, in sehr seltenen Fällen bis hin zu schweren, zum Teil lebensbedrohlichen blasenbildenden Haut- resp. Schleimhautreaktionen.
Selten kann Novalgin einen Asthmaanfall oder sogar schwere Herz- und Kreislaufreaktionen auslösen.
Ein Teil der Personen mit solchen Erscheinungen reagiert auch überempfindlich auf andere Entzündungshemmer und Schmerzmittel (sog. Schmerzmittelunverträglichkeit). Bei anderen besteht eine eigentliche Allergie auf Metamizol und verwandte Substanzen (sog. Pyrazolone oder Pyrazolidine).
Schwere Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen können zum Tod führen. Treten obengenannte Erscheinungen unter der Behandlung mit Novalgin auf, müssen Sie das Arzneimittel sofort absetzen und sofort den Arzt bzw. der Ärztin aufsuchen.
Novalgin kann unabhängig von den Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen vereinzelt zu Blutdruckabfall führen.
In einzelnen Fällen, vor allem bei vorbestehenden Nierenerkrankungen oder bei Überdosierungen, kann die ausgeschiedene Harnmenge stark vermindert sein. Nach Injektion von Novalgin können Schmerzen und/oder lokale Reaktionen an der Injektionsstelle auftreten. Sehr selten treten eine verstärkte Blutungsneigung und/oder punktförmige Blutungen an der Haut und den Schleimhäuten auf, die Anzeichen für eine Verminderung der Anzahl von Blutplättchen sein können. Informieren Sie in diesen Fällen sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Eine gelegentliche Rotfärbung des Harns ist harmlos. Sie beruht auf der Ausscheidung eines unschädlichen Stoffwechselproduktes und verschwindet wieder, wenn Novalgin nicht mehr eingenommen wird.
Arzneimittel sind für Kinder unzugänglich aufzubewahren.
Novalgin muss bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) aufbewahrt werden.
Novalgin Ampullen müssen in den Original-Faltschachteln aufbewahrt werden.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
