Ospolot bewirkt eine Verminderung oder Dämpfung von Anfällen bei Kindern, die an der sogenannten Rolando-Epilepsie leiden. Die Rolando-Epilepsie wird auch als gutartige Epilepsie des Kindesalters mit zentrotemporalen Entladungen bezeichnet.
Ospolot ist nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin erhältlich.
Ospolot darf nicht eingenommen werden bei Überempfindlichkeit auf den Wirkstoff Sultiam, ähnliche Wirkstoffe (Sulfonamide) oder andere Bestandteile des Arzneimittels.
Bei bestimmten Erkrankungen wie z.B
-Erkrankung der Schilddrüse
-Störung der Nierenfunktion
-Erkrankung des Gemüts (geistig-seelische Erkrankungen)
-Störung bei der Blutbildung
darf Ospolot nicht eingenommen werden.
Ospolot darf auf keinen Fall in der Schwangerschaft/Stillzeit angewendet werden. Zudem darf Ospolot bei Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter und bei weiblichen Teenagern ab 12 Jahren nicht angewendet werden.
Bei Kombination von Ospolot mit diversen anderen Arzneimitteln kann die Wirkung von Ospolot bzw. die der anderen Arzneimittel verändert werden. Halten Sie sich daher unbedingt an die Dosierungsvorschriften Ihres Arztes/Ihrer Ärztin.
Während der Behandlung mit Sultiam sollte auf den Genuss von Alkohol verzichtet werden, da es einem sehr übel werden kann.
Sprechen Sie sofort mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin oder stellen Sie sicher, dass jemand anderer dies für Sie bzw. für Ihr Kind tun kann, falls irgendwelche der folgenden (gelegentlichen oder seltenen) Nebenwirkungen auftreten: Fieber, Halsschmerzen, Hautausschlag, Geschwüre im Mund, geschwollene Drüsen, Dunkelfärbung des Urins, Anzeichen starker Hautreaktionen, wie z.B. Schälen der Haut.
Dies können frühe Anzeichen einer ernsten Schädigung des Blutes, der Nieren oder anderer Organe sein und könnten dringend ärztliche Behandlung erfordern. Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin wird deshalb periodisch Sie bzw. Ihr Kind bezüglich Blut und Urin untersuchen.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen!
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin, wenn Sie bzw. Ihr Kind
-an anderen Krankheiten leiden,
-Allergien haben oder
-andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden (Externa)!
Eine geringe Anzahl von Patienten, die mit Antiepileptika wie Sultiam behandelt wurden, hatten Gedanken daran, sich selbst zu verletzen oder sich das Leben zu nehmen. Wenn Sie zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt solche Gedanken haben, setzen Sie sich sofort mit Ihrem Arzt in Verbindung.
Während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit darf Ospolot nicht angewendet werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Ospolot soll nur unter ärztlicher Kontrolle eingenommen werden. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin stimmt die Dosis genau auf Ihr persönliches Bedürfnis bzw. das Bedürfnis Ihres Kindes ab. Unter bestimmten Umständen wird er/sie die Behandlung mit Ospolot einschleichend mit einer niedrigen Anfangsdosis je nach Art und Schwere der Erkrankung beginnen und dann die Dosis langsam erhöhen, bis die wirksame Erhaltungsdosis erreicht ist. Unter anderen Bedingungen wird Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin unter Umständen die Behandlung mit Ospolot bereits gleich mit der wirksamen Erhaltungsdosis beginnen. Die Tagesdosis sollte möglichst auf drei Einzelgaben verteilt werden.
Es ist sehr wichtig, dass Sie sich genau an die Anordnungen Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin halten und dass Ospolot regelmässig eingenommen wird. Sollte einmal vergessen werden, Ospolot einzunehmen, kompensieren Sie nicht beim nächsten Mal mit der doppelten Dosis. Setzen Sie die Behandlung mit der verordneten Dosis fort. Falls einmal mehr als eine Dosis vergessen wurde, konsultieren Sie bitte Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.
Sie können bzw. Ihr Kind kann Ospolot Filmtabletten mit reichlich Flüssigkeit schlucken (1 Glas Wasser). Die Filmtabletten á 200 mg sind mit einer Bruchrille versehen und teilbar.
Die Dauer der Einnahme richtet sich nach der Art und Schwere der Erkrankung und der individuellen Reaktion. Sie wird vom behandelnden Arzt bzw. der behandelnden Ärztin bestimmt.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Ospolot auftreten:
Sehr häufig (mehr als 1 Behandelter von 10) können Magenbeschwerden auftreten.
Besonders zu Beginn der Behandlung können häufig (1 bis 10 Behandelte von 100) Atembeschwerden bis hin zur Atemnot, Kribbeln in Armen, Beinen oder im Gesicht, Schwindel, Kopfschmerzen, Brechreiz, Erbrechen oder Müdigkeit auftreten. Bei einigen Patienten bzw. Patientinnen kann es zu Verwirrung und Unruhe kommen.
Ausserdem können gelegentlich (1 bis 10 Behandelte von 1.000) ein Engegefühl in der Brust, Herzrasen, Appetitlosigkeit, Halluzinationen, Angst, Antriebsarmut auftreten.
Selten (1 bis 10 Behandelte von 10.000) kommt es zu allergischen Hautreaktionen; in Einzelfällen in schwerer Form (Stevens-Johnson-Syndrom, Lyell-Syndrom). Sehr selten (weniger als 1 Behandelter von 10 000) kommt es zu einer Reduktion der weissen Blutkörperchen, der Blutplättchen, Impotenz, Blutdruckanstieg oder -abfall, einer Störung der Nierenfunktion oder einer Entzündung mehrerer Nerven. Sehr selten kann es zu einer metabolischen Azidose (Überschuss sauer reagierender Stoffe im Blut) kommen. Frühzeichen einer solchen metabolischen Azidose sind verstärkte Atmung, Müdigkeit und Appetitlosigkeit.
In Einzelfällen können Verhaltensauffälligkeiten wie z.B. Aggressivität, Reizbarkeit, Stimmungsschwankungen auftreten.
Der Arzt oder die Ärztin sollten sofort aufgesucht werden, falls Fieber, Halsschmerzen, grippeähnliche Krankheitsbeschwerden, Schälen der Haut, Blasen auf der Haut oder Schwierigkeiten beim Wasserlassen auftreten. Dies könnte auf eine schwerwiegende Nebenwirkung (Schädigung des Blutes, der Nieren oder anderer Organe) hindeuten und muss umgehend abgeklärt werden.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit dem als «Verwendbar bis» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
In der Originalpackung bei Raumtemperatur (15 ? 25 °C) und ausser Reichweite von Kindern lagern.
