Paragar dient zur kurzzeitigen Behandlung von hartnäckigen Verstopfungen. Seine Wirkung beruht auf einer Aufweichung und Schmierung des Darminhaltes und damit auf einer Erleichterung des Stuhlganges. Dieser Effekt wird unterstützt durch Wirkstoffe, welche die Darmbewegung anregen und den Stuhl weicher machen. Paragar wird verwendet auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin zur Behandlung aller Arten der Verstopfung, bei Bettlägerigen und empfindlichen Personen.
Paragar kann lediglich kurzfristig die Symptome der Verstopfung lindern, nicht jedoch die zugrundeliegenden Ursachen beseitigen. Dazu ist es nötig, dass Sie sich möglichst abwechslungsreich ernähren, Nahrungsmittel mit vielen Ballaststoffen (Früchte, Gemüse, Vollkornprodukte, Nüsse etc.) bevorzugen, regelmässig trinken und sich ausreichend körperlich betätigen.
Bei Entzündungen in der Bauchhöhle, Darmverschluss und Leberentzündungen. Wenn Sie bei einer früheren Einnahme von Paragar oder eines ähnlichen Präparates allergische Reaktionen (Nesselsucht, Rötungen, Juckreiz) beobachtet haben, sollten Sie das Präparat nicht mehr einnehmen.
Paragar sollte nur kurzfristig eingenommen werden. Jede über eine kurzdauernde Anwendung hinausgehende Einnahme führt zu einer Verstärkung der Darmträgheit. Eine längerdauernde Behandlung darf nur unter medizinischer Kontrolle erfolgen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen!
Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten und während der Stillzeit, dürfen Sie Paragar nur nach Rücksprache mit dem Arzt bzw. der Ärztin einnehmen.
Wenn nicht anders verordnet:
Erwachsene und Kinder ab 12 Jahren: 1½ bis 3 Messlöffel.
Kinder ab 6 Jahren: 1 bis 1½ Meßlöffel.
Kinder ab 1½ Jahren: ½ bis 1 Messlöffel.
Einnahme jeweils abends, eventuell auch morgens nüchtern. Flasche vor Gebrauch schütteln!
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Paragar auftreten:
Vor allem bei langzeitiger Anwendung in hohen Dosen können Störungen des Salzhaushaltes auftreten, z.B. Bluthochdruck, Schwellungen und Flüssigkeitsmangel. Gelegentlich tauchen Bauchschmerzen, Blähungen und Durchfall auf. Sehr selten sind die Anzeichen einer allergischen Reaktion wie Nesselsucht, Hautrötungen oder Juckreiz.
Aus Tierversuchen gibt es Hinweise, dass Phenolphthalein in extrem hohen Überdosierungen und nach massiv erhöhten Anwendungszeiten zur Entartung von Zellen des Darmgewebes führen kann. Das Präparat darf deshalb nur in der empfohlenen Dosierung und nicht über einen langen Zeitraum eingenommen werden.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Nach der Einnahme von Paragar kann eine Rotfärbung des Urins auftreten. Dies ist auf einen der Wirkstoffe zurückzuführen und völlig harmlos.
Wie alle Arzneimittel soll Paragar für Kinder unerreichbar aufbewahrt werden.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP.» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
1 Messlöffel voll (= 5 ml) enthält: 2 g Paraffin, 15 mg Agar, 65 mg Phenolphthalein, die Konservierungsmittel Benzoesäure (E 210), Kaliumsorbat (E 202) und den Aromastoff Vanillin; zuckerfrei.
