oder dem Medikamenten-Taxi nach einer Online Sprechstunde, falls gewünscht.
Petinimid ist ein Arzneimittel, das zur Behandlung bestimmter Anfallsformen von Epilepsie geeignet ist.
Kleine epileptische Anfälle mit häufigen kurzzeitigen Bewusstseinsausfällen (Petit mal, Absencen). Bei gemischten Anfallsformen in Kombination mit anderen Präparaten zur Epilepsiebehandlung.
Während der Therapie regelmässig Blutbild, Harn und Leberfunktion untersuchen lassen!
Bei Überdosierung kann es zu Müdigkeit, Reizbarkeit, Verstimmungs- und Erregungszuständen, Zunahme der Anfallshäufigkeit und Bewusstlosigkeit kommen. Sofortige ärztliche Hilfe ist angezeigt.
Petinimid soll nicht eingenommen werden bei Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber Ethosuximid.
Eine plötzliche Unterbrechung der Einnahme von Petinimid ist zu unterlassen, da sie zu einer Anfallshäufung führen kann.
Vorsicht und ständige Kontrolle ist geboten bei Patienten mit Leber- und Nierenfunktionsstörungen.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen!
Da durch Petinimid die Reaktionsfähigkeit beeinträchtigt werden kann, ist besondere Vorsicht im Strassenverkehr und beim Bedienen von Maschinen geboten.
Bei gleichzeitigem Genuss von Alkohol kann verstärkt Müdigkeit auftreten, daher während der Behandlung keinen Alkohol trinken.
Da durch Petinimid die Wirksamkeit empfängnisverhindernder Hormonpräparate herabgesetzt werden kann, sollten andere Massnahmen zur Empfängnisverhütung angewandt werden.
Eine geringe Anzahl an Patienten, die mit Antiepileptika wie Petinimid behandelt werden, hatten Gedanken, sich das Leben zu nehmen oder sich selbst zu verletzen. Wenn Sie zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt derartige Gedanken haben, kontaktieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt. Eltern sollten bei Ihrem Kind auf mögliche Anzeichen und Bemerkungen bezüglich Selbstmordgedanken achten.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen, da bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von Petinimid oder anderen beruhigend wirkenden Arzneimitteln verstärkt Müdigkeit auftreten kann. Die gleichzeitige Einnahme von Arzneimitteln, die Krämpfe hervorrufen können, ist zu vermeiden.
Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin um Rat fragen.
Petinimid sollte während der ersten drei Schwangerschaftsmonate nur eingenommen werden, wenn es für die Anfallsfreiheit unbedingt erforderlich ist. Eine Begleittherapie ist nach Möglichkeit zu vermeiden.
Bei Einnahme von Petinimid soll nicht gestillt werden.
Es empfiehlt sich, die Tagesdosis auf 2?3 Gaben verteilt einzunehmen. Petinimid soll während den Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden. Nicht ohne Bewilligung des Arztes mit der Behandlung aufhören. Bei Nierenfunktionsstörungen wird Ihnen der Arzt eine niedrigere Dosis verschreiben.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin setzt die notwendige Dosierung individuell fest. Die folgenden Dosierungshinweise sind als Richtlinie zu betrachten.

Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die vorgeschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Petinimid auftreten:
Gelegentlich (0,1?1%) kommt es zu Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Appetitlosigkeit, Magenschmerzen, Bauchkrämpfe, Gewichtsabnahme, Durchfall, Benommenheit, Müdigkeit, Kopfschmerzen, Schwindelgefühl, Euphorie, Reizbarkeit, Bewegungs- und Gangstörungen, übermässigem Bewegungsdrang und Lichtscheue, was jedoch nicht zum Abbruch der Therapie zwingt. Selten (0,01?0,1%) werden Schlafstörungen, Konzentrationsschwäche, Nesselsucht, zum Teil schwere Hautreaktionen (wie z.B. Hautausschläge, vermehrte Körperbehaarung [Hirsutismus], Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen), Zittern, Angst- oder Unruhezustände, Gereiztheit, Aggressivität, Erregung, Trägheit, erhöhter Sexualtrieb, Angstpsychosen, verstärkte Depressionen (eventuell mit Selbstmordtendenzen), Kurzsichtigkeit, Blutungen aus der Scheide, Schluckauf, Zungen- und Gaumenschwellungen sowie Störungen des Blutbildes, von Leberwerten und des Urins beobachtet.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Das Arzneimittel ist im Umkarton vor Licht geschützt bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und für Kinder unerreichbar aufzubewahren.

1 Kapsel Petinimid enthält: 250 mg Ethosuximid, die Konservierungsmittel Äthylparahydroxybenzoat (E 215) und Propylparahydroxybenzoat (E 217), Vanillinaroma sowie weitere Hilfsstoffe.
