Prospan Hustentropfen ist ein Präparat auf pflanzlicher Basis und enthält einen quantifizierten (d.h. in seiner Qualität gleichbleibenden) Auszug aus Efeublättern. Efeu besitzt schleimverflüssigende und krampflösende Eigenschaften. Prospan Hustentropfen werden verwendet bei übermässiger Bildung von zähem Schleim, bei Erkältungshusten.
Sollte der Husten länger als sieben Tage andauern, ist ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin zu konsultieren.
Prospan Hustentropfen sollen nicht eingenommen werden bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit auf einen der Wirk- oder Hilfsstoffe (siehe «Was ist in Prospan Hustentropfen enthalten?»). Dies gilt insbesondere für diejenigen Personen, denen vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin die Einnahme selbst minimaler Alkoholmengen (z.B. nach Entziehungskur) strikt untersagt wurde. Dieses Arzneimittel enthält 47 Vol.-% Alkohol. Bei Kindern unter 2 Jahren nur nach ärztlicher Verordnung anwenden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. die Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin um Rat fragen.
Soweit nicht anders verordnet, nehmen Erwachsene und Schulkinder ab 6 Jahren 20 Tropfen, Kleinkinder ab 2 Jahren 15 Tropfen, 3?5-mal täglich ein, verdünnt mit Wasser oder Tee. Bei Kleinkindern empfiehlt es sich, die Tropfen zusammen mit etwas Tee oder Fruchtsaft zu verabreichen.
Inhalationstherapie mit Prospan Hustentropfen: Eine zusätzliche Wirkung lässt sich durch die Inhalation der Lösung im Aerosolverfahren erzielen.
Hierfür geeignet sind praktisch alle handelsüblichen Geräte zur Kaltverneblung; keinesfalls sollen jedoch Prospan Hustentropfen in irgendeiner Form verdampft oder erhitzt werden, da hierdurch die enthaltenen pflanzlichen Wirkstoffe zerstört werden. Zur Vermeidung gelegentlich auftretender Reizerscheinungen infolge des Alkoholgehalts von Prospan können zur Inhalation die Tropfen mit Trinkwasser im Verhältnis 1:2 verdünnt werden.
Dosierung für das Inhalationsgerät: Soweit nicht anders verordnet, 3?5-mal täglich 20?25 Tropfen inhalieren.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Prospan Hustentropfen auftreten:
Für Prospan Hustentropfen sind bisher bei bestimmungsgemässem Gebrauch keine Nebenwirkungen beobachtet worden.
Sehr selten können nach der Einnahme von efeuhaltigen Arzneimitteln allergische Reaktionen (Atemnot, Schwellungen, Hautrötungen, Juckreiz) auftreten.
Bei empfindlichen Personen können sehr selten Magen-Darm-Beschwerden (Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Durchfall) auftreten.
Bei Auftreten von allergischen Reaktionen ist die Anwendung zu unterlassen und gegebenenfalls ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin aufzusuchen.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Wechselwirkungen bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von Prospan Hustentropfen und anderen Arzneimitteln sind bisher nicht bekannt geworden. Das Präparat kann daher auch mit anderen Arzneimitteln kombiniert werden.
Das Präparat enthält einen herstellungsbedingten Gehalt von 47 Vol.-% Alkohol.
Durch den Gehalt an Pflanzenextrakt können sich bei Prospan Hustentropfen gelegentlich leichte Trübungen sowie geringfügige Geschmacksveränderungen ergeben, die jedoch keinen Einfluss auf die Qualität des Präparats haben.
Arzneimittel für Kinder unzugänglich aufbewahren! Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

Dieses Präparat enthält Aromatica, Saccharin, Alkohol (47 Vol.-%) sowie weitere Hilfsstoffe. 1 ml = 30 Tropfen.
