+-Was ist Symfonel forte und wann wird es angewendet?

Symfonel forte enthält einen standardisierten Spezialextrakt aus Ginkgoblättern (von Ginkgo Biloba). Dieser wird angewendet bei Beschwerden wie Konzentrationsmangel, Vergesslichkeit, Schwindelgefühl und Müdigkeit infolge altersbedingter, zerebraler (das Gehirn betreffender) Durchblutungsstörungen.

+-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

Bevor die Behandlung mit Symfonel forte Kapseln begonnen wird, sollte geklärt werden, ob die Krankheitssymptome nicht auf einer spezifisch zu behandelnden Grunderkrankung beruhen. Häufig auftretende Schwindelgefühle bedürfen grundsätzlich einer Abklärung durch den Arzt oder die Ärztin.

Wenn die Beschwerden nicht innerhalb einer angemessenen Zeit nachlassen, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin um Rat fragen.

Einseitige Ernährung, übermässiger Fettkonsum sowie Rauchen können die Begleiterscheinungen der Arteriosklerose verstärken und sollten deshalb vermieden oder eingeschränkt werden.

+-Wann darf Symfonel forte nicht oder nur mit Vorsicht angewendet werden?

Bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit gegen Ginkgo biloba-Zubereitungen oder weiteren Bestandteilen des Arzneimittels (siehe «Was ist in Symfonel forte enthalten?») darf Symfonel forte nicht angewendet werden. Zur Anwendung dieses Arzneimittels bei Kindern liegen keine Untersuchungen vor. Es soll deshalb bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren nicht angewendet werden.

Insbesondere bei Langzeitanwendung wurde über Einzelfälle von Blutungen berichtet (deren ursächlicher Zusammenhang mit der Einnahme von Ginkgo-Zubereitungen bisher nicht eindeutig gesichert ist). Eine Wechselwirkung mit Arzneimitteln, die die Blutgerinnung hemmen, kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Über die Einnahme vor operativen Eingriffen ist der Arzt oder die Ärztin zu befragen bzw. zu informieren.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt,Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen.

+-Darf Symfonel forte während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt.

Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt Apotheker oder Drogist bzw. die Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin um Rat fragen.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Symfonel forte?

Erwachsene

1 Kapsel 2× täglich einnehmen, soweit vom Arzt oder der Ärztin nicht anders verschrieben.

Die Kapseln sind unzerkaut mit Flüssigkeit, am besten zum Frühstück und Nachtessen einzunehmen. Die Einnahme während längerer Zeit ist empfehlenswert. Eine längerdauernde Anwendung sollte aber vorher mit dem Arzt oder der Ärztin besprochen werden.

Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt/Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Symfonel forte haben?

Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Ginkgo-haltigen Arzneimitteln, wie Symfonel forte, auftreten: sehr selten leichte Magen-Darm-Beschwerden, Kopfschmerzen oder allergische Reaktionen der Haut (Hautrötung, -schwellung, Juckreiz). Zum möglichen Blutungsrisiko siehe unter Rubrik «Wann darf Symfonel forte nicht oder nur mit Vorsicht angewendet werden?».

Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

1 Kapsel Symfonel forte enthält 120 mg Ginkgo biloba-Trockenextrakt (DEV 50:1), entsprechend 30 mg Flavonglykosidgehalt = 25% und 7,2 mg Terpenlaktongehalt = 6%. Auszugsmittel: Aceton 60% (V/V).

Dieses Präparat enthält zusätzliche Hilfsstoffe.
