Synagis gehört zur Arzneimittelgruppe der sogenannten Antikörper. Synagis wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin Ihrem Kind verabreicht, falls es ein erhöhtes Risiko hat, an einer Krankheit zu erkranken, die durch das sogenannte Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) hervorgerufen wird. Diese Erkrankung tritt normalerweise in den Wintermonaten und im Frühjahr auf. Das RS-Virus kann eine schwere Infektion in der Lunge Ihres Kindes hervorrufen und seine Einweisung in ein Spital erforderlich machen. Synagis ist ein Arzneimittel, das Ihr Kind gegen eine schwere Erkrankung mit RSV schützt.
Synagis wird Ihrem Kind durch den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin oder eine andere Medizinalperson injiziert.
Ihr Kind darf nicht mit Synagis behandelt werden, wenn es bereits früher eine allergische Reaktion gegen einen der Bestandteile von Synagis oder gegen ein ähnliches Arzneimittel gezeigt hat.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Ihr Kind sich unwohl fühlt oder sonstige Anzeichen einer Erkrankung zeigt, denn dann müsste die Anwendung von Synagis eventuell verschoben werden.
Synagis wird im Allgemeinen in den Oberschenkel injiziert. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Ihr Kind an einer Blutgerinnungsstörung leidet.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Ihr Kind an anderen Krankheiten leidet, Allergien hat oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnimmt oder äusserlich anwendet.
Synagis wird Ihrem Kind einmal im Monat verabreicht, solange die Gefahr einer Ansteckung mit RSV besteht. Um Ihr Kind bestmöglich zu schützen, ist es sehr wichtig, dass Sie die Anweisungen Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin hinsichtlich der Behandlungstermine für die nächsten Verabreichungen befolgen.
Synagis wird als Injektion in einen Muskel verabreicht, meistens in die äussere Seite des Oberschenkels.
Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Die Nebenwirkungen, die sich bei Ihrem Kind zeigen könnten, sind Fieber, Nervosität, eine Rötung oder Schwellung an der Injektionsstelle, Hautausschlag, Durchfall, pfeifende Atmung, eine Erkältung oder Ohrenschmerzen, Mittelohrentzündung und eine Veränderung der Leberwerte.
In sehr seltenen Fällen können allergische Reaktionen auftreten, die ein Absetzen der weiteren Verabreichung von Synagis erfordern.
Falls bei Ihrem Kind weitere Nebenwirkungen auftreten, die hier nicht beschrieben sind und bei denen Sie einen Zusammenhang mit der Anwendung von Synagis vermuten, sollten Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin konsultieren.
Falls Ihr Kind eine geplante Injektion von Synagis versäumt hat, sollten Sie mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin schnellstmöglich einen neuen Termin vereinbaren. Jede Injektion Synagis kann Ihr Kind nur für ungefähr einen Monat schützen. Dann ist eine weitere Injektion erforderlich.
Ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
Synagis enthält den Antikörper Palivizumab (Wirkstoff) und zusätzlich Histidin, Glycin und Mannitol als Hilfsstoffe.
