Ulcogant enthält den Wirkstoff Sucralfat und wirkt lokal an der Schleimhaut von Speiseröhre, Magen und Zwölffingerdarm. Es überzieht erkrankte und geschädigte Stellen mit einer Schutzschicht, um so weitere Schäden zu vermeiden.
Ulcogant wird zur Behandlung eines Magen- oder Zwölffingerdarm-Ulkus (Ulkus = Schädigung der Magen- oder Zwölffingerdarmwand, Geschwür) eingesetzt. Es lindert die Beschwerden und beschleunigt die Heilung des Ulkus. Es verzögert bzw. verhindert ein Wiederauftreten eines Zwölffingerdarm-Ulkus (Ulkusprophylaxe).
Das Arzneimittel eignet sich im Weiteren zur Behandlung einer Speiseröhrenentzündung, die auf einen Rückfluss von Magensäften zurückzuführen ist.
Ulcogant darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden. Ulcogant gibt es als Tabletten oder als Suspension.
Bei einer Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber Sucralfat oder einem der Hilfsstoffe darf Ulcogant nicht eingesetzt werden. Ulcogant Suspension darf nicht bei Patienten mit bekannter Überempfindlichkeit auf die Konservierungsmittel Methyl-4-hydroxybenzoat (E 219) und Propyl-4-hydroxybenzoat (E 217) angewendet werden.
Ulcogant kann die Wirkung einiger anderer Arzneimittel beeinträchtigen.
Wenn Sie an einer Nierenfunktionsstörung leiden, sollten Sie Ulcogant nicht einnehmen und Ihren Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin informieren.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker, bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.
Es liegen keine kontrollierten Studien bei schwangeren Frauen vor. Ulcogant sollte während der Schwangerschaft nicht angewendet werden, ausser auf ausdrückliche Verordnung durch den Arzt resp. die Ärztin.
Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Ulcogant in die Muttermilch übertritt. Deshalb sollte Ulcogant während der Stillzeit nicht angewendet werden.
Die Behandlung mit Ulcogant wird vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin individuell dem Patienten angepasst.
Ulcogant Tabletten können entweder unzerkaut mit etwas Wasser geschluckt werden oder in einem halben Glas Wasser aufgelöst eingenommen werden.
Der Inhalt eines Beutels bzw. Messlöffels Ulcogant Suspension kann direkt in den Mund gegeben oder mit Hilfe eines Esslöffels eingenommen werden. Wasser kann nachgetrunken werden.
Ulcogant ist nüchtern einzunehmen. Bei einer Speiseröhrenentzündung kann die Einnahme jedoch auch nach den Mahlzeiten erfolgen. 30 Minuten vor und nach der Einnahme von Ulcogant sollten keine Magensäure bindenden Mittel (Antacida) eingenommen werden. Mischungen von Ulcogant mit gerbsäurehaltigen Flüssigkeiten (z.B. schwarzer Tee) sollten vermieden werden.
Eine Anwendung bei Kindern unter 14 Jahren wird nicht empfohlen, da nicht genügend Daten zur Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit von Ulcogant bei Kindern vorliegen.
Entweder morgens nach dem Aufstehen und abends vor dem Schlafengehen je 2 Tabletten resp. 2 Beutel oder 2 Messlöffel Suspension, oder 3× täglich vor den Hauptmahlzeiten und vor dem Schlafengehen je 1 Tablette resp. 1 Beutel oder 1 Messlöffel Suspension einnehmen.
2× 1 Tablette oder 2× 1 Beutel oder Messlöffel Suspension täglich morgens nach dem Aufstehen und abends vor dem Schlafengehen.
4× 1 Tablette oder 4× 1 Beutel oder Messlöffel Suspension täglich vor oder nach den 3 Hauptmahlzeiten, die 4. Dosis vor dem Schlafengehen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme oder Anwendung von Ulcogant auftreten:
Häufig: Verstopfung.
Gelegentlich: Durchfall, Übelkeit, Mundtrockenheit.
Selten: Schwindel, Völlegefühl, Hautausschlag, Juckreiz, Magensteine.
In Einzelfällen können Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen auftreten.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Das Arzneimittel soll vor Kindern geschützt, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und trocken aufbewahrt werden.
Die angebrochene Flasche Ulcogant Suspension muss im Kühlschrank (2?8 °C) aufbewahrt und innerhalb von 13 Wochen verwendet werden.
