Uvamin retard Kapseln enthalten 100 mg Nitrofurantoin. Nitrofurantoin ist eine antibakteriell wirkende Substanz. Uvamin retard Kapseln werden angewendet bei akuten und chronischen Erkrankungen der Harnwege, die durch nitrofurantoinempfindliche Keime verursacht werden (z.B. Harnblasenentzündung, Nierenbeckenentzündung), als Infektionsprophylaxe bei Untersuchungen, z.B. Harnblasenspiegelung, oder nach chirurgischen Eingriffen am Harnwegssystem.
Uvamin retard darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Dieses Arzneimittel wurde Ihnen von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin zur Behandlung Ihrer gegenwärtigen Harnwegserkrankung verschrieben.
Der Wirkstoff in Uvamin retard ist nicht gegen alle Mikroorganismen, welche Harnwegsinfektionen verursachen, wirksam. Die Anwendung eines falsch gewählten oder nicht richtig dosierten Präparates kann Komplikationen verursachen.
Wenden Sie es deshalb nicht von sich aus für die Behandlung anderer Erkrankungen oder anderer Personen an. Auch bei späteren neuen Infektionen dürfen Sie Uvamin retard nicht ohne erneute ärztliche Konsultation anwenden.
Bei einer eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion, bei zu geringer oder fehlender Harnbildung, bei Nervenerkrankungen wie Erkrankungen des peripheren Nervensystems (Polyneuropathie) oder Entzündung eines peripheren oder Hirnnervs (Neuritis), bei einer seltenen erblichen Krankheit der roten Blutkörperchen, dem sogenannten «Glucose-6-Phosphat-Dehydrogenase-Mangel», bei einer speziellen Lungenerkrankung (Lungenfibrose), bei einer Störung der Bildung des roten Blutfarbstoffs (akute Porphyrie) oder bei einer bekannten Überempfindlichkeit (Allergie) auf Nitrofurantoin oder verwandte Substanzen oder den Farbstoff (E 104) darf Uvamin retard nicht eingenommen werden. Eine solche Überempfindlichkeit äussert sich z.B. durch Asthma, Atemnot, Kreislaufbeschwerden, Schwellungen der Haut (z.B. Nesselfieber) und Schleimhäute oder Hautausschläge.
Uvamin retard Kapseln sind für Kinder unter 12 Jahren ungeeignet.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen!
Sind bei Patienten bereits die nachstehenden Nebenreaktionen (siehe «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Uvamin retard haben?») bei einer früheren Uvamin-Behandlung mit Nitrofurantoin (Wirkstoff von Uvamin retard) aufgetreten, dann muss bei einer erneuten Verschreibung von Uvamin retard der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin informiert werden. Insbesondere müssen Leber- und Hauterscheinungen erwähnt werden.
Sie müssen Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren, falls Sie an einer Erkrankung der Lunge, Leberfunktionsstörungen, Blutarmut, Zuckerkrankheit, motorischer Schwäche oder Vitamin-B-Mangel leiden. Ihr Arzt muss auch informiert sein, falls Sie bestimmte Präparate gegen Infektionen z.B. mit dem Wirkstoff Nalidixinsäure, Präparate die die Harnsäureausscheidung steigern (Gichtmittel) mit den Wirkstoffen Sulfinpyrazon oder Probenecid, Präparate gegen Anfallsleiden (Epilepsie) mit dem Wirkstoff Phenytoin oder Präparate zur Hemmung der Magensaftsekretion mit dem Wirkstoff Propanthelin einnehmen.
Bei gleichzeitiger Gabe von bestimmten Antazida (Arzneimittel gegen Magenübersäuerung) wird die Nitrofurantoin-Aufnahme vermindert. Deshalb sollte Nitrofurantoin mindestens eine Stunde vor den Antazida eingenommen werden.
Nitrofurantoin hemmt die antibakterielle Wirkung von gewissen anderen Präparaten, die in der Behandlung von Harnwegsinfekten eingesetzt werden.
Wie andere Antibiotika kann Nitrofurantoin die Darmflora beeinträchtigen, was zu einer verminderten Wirksamkeit von gewissen Kontrazeptiva führt. Extra kontrazeptive Vorsichtsmassnahmen sind anzuwenden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie
an anderen Krankheiten leiden,
Allergien haben oder
andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.
Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, dürfen Sie Uvamin retard nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin anwenden. Überlassen Sie es Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin zu entscheiden, ob Sie Uvamin retard während einer Schwangerschaft einnehmen dürfen.
In den ersten 6 Monaten der Schwangerschaft und während der 4 letzten Wochen vor dem errechneten Geburtstermin sollte Uvamin retard nicht eingenommen werden.
Während einer Behandlung mit Uvamin retard soll nicht gestillt werden.
Ihr Arzt bestimmt die Dosierung von Uvamin retard. Wenn vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin nicht anders verordnet, gelten folgende Angaben:
2 - 3 mal täglich eine Kapsel während 7 - 10 Tagen einnehmen.
1 - 2 mal täglich 1 Kapsel einnehmen.
Uvamin retard Kapseln sind für die Anwendung bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren ungeeignet.
Die Retardkapseln zu den Mahlzeiten unzerkaut mit reichlich Flüssigkeit einnehmen.
Eine begonnene Therapie mit Uvamin retard sollte so lange wie vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin verordnet durchgeführt werden. Weder die tägliche Dosis noch die Therapiedauer dürfen ohne Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin geändert werden. Die Krankheitssymptome verschwinden oft bevor die Infektion vollständig ausgeheilt ist. Eine ungenügende Anwendungsdauer oder ein zu frühes Beenden der Behandlung kann ein erneutes Aufflammen der Erkrankung zur Folge haben.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Magen-Darm-Störungen wie Übelkeit, Appetitlosigkeit (bis zur Anorexie), Durchfall, Erbrechen, Bauchschmerzen sowie (selten) Pankreatitis, können auftreten. Häufig kommen Schwindelgefühl, Kopfschmerzen, allergische Hautreaktionen und Fieber vor.
Weniger häufig können Nystagmus (unkontrollierbare, rhythmisch verlaufende Bewegungen eines Organs, am häufigsten des Auges), eine leichte intrakranielle Hypertension sowie Infektionen durch Pilze oder resistente Keime, auftreten.
Selten treten Störungen der Leberfunktion (Gelbsucht, Gallenstauung), Ohrspeicheldrüsenentzündungen, Kristallurie (vermehrte Auftreten von Kristallen im Urinsediment) oder vorübergehender Haarausfall auf.
Unterbrechen Sie sofort die Behandlung mit Uvamin retard und informieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie folgende Symptome beobachten:
Depression, Euphorie, Konfusion oder andere psychotische Reaktionen, Schwindel, Kopfschmerzen, Kreislaufkollaps, Hautausschläge, , Schwellung der Haut und Schleimhaut, Fieber, «Kribbeln» in den Händen und Füssen, Schüttelfrost, Halsschmerzen, Asthma, Hustenanfälle, Atembeschwerden, Schmerzen hinter dem Brustbein, Gelenkschmerzen und Missempfindungen an Händen und/oder Füssen.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bei unkontrollierter Einnahme (Überdosis) unverzüglich einen Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin aufsuchen.
Uvamin retard führt zu einer harmlosen Braunfärbung des Urins.
Ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren!
Uvamin retard ist in der Originalpackung bei Raumtemperatur (15-25°C) zu lagern.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Nach Beendigung der Behandlung das Arzneimittel mit dem restlichen Inhalt Ihrer Abgabestelle (Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ärztin oder Apothekerin) zum fachgerechten Entsorgen bringen!
