Vicks VapoRub ist eine Salbe zur äusserlichen Anwendung (Einreiben auf Brust, Hals und Rücken) oder zum Inhalieren bei Symptomen der Erkältung bei Kindern und Erwachsenen.
Es enthält ätherische Pflanzenöle und Bestandteile davon, welche teilweise durch die Haut aufgenommen und teilweise eingeatmet werden. Vicks VapoRub erleichtert das Atmen und verhilft zu einem ruhigen Schlaf, wenn es vor dem Schlafengehen eingerieben wird. Vicks VapoRub wird angewendet bei Erkältungen der oberen Atemwege mit Husten, Schnupfen, Halsweh und bronchitischen Beschwerden.
Halten die Symptome länger als eine Woche ohne Anzeichen einer Besserung an, sollte ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin konsultiert werden.
Vicks VapoRub darf nicht angewendet werden bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit gegen einen der Inhaltsstoffe (siehe «Zusammensetzung»). Bei vorgeschädigter oder entzündeter Haut, offenen Wunden, Verbrennungen oder Haut- und Kinderkrankheiten mit Exanthem, Asthma bronchiale, Keuchhusten sowie Pseudokrupp und anderen Atemwegserkrankungen, die mit einer ausgeprägten Überempfindlichkeit der Atemwege einhergehen (beim Einatmen können die Wirkstoffe ihrerseits zu einer Verkrampfung der Bronchialmuskulatur führen). Bei akuter Lungenentzündung nicht als Inhalation anwenden.
Bei Säuglingen und Kleinkindern unter 2 Jahren wegen Gefahr eines Stimmritzenkrampfes, bei Kindern unter 6 Jahren nicht zur Inhalation anwenden.
Nicht im Gesicht anwenden; nicht schlucken. Kontakt mit Augen, Nase und Mund vermeiden.
Bei Kindern unter 7 Jahren mit Vorsicht anwenden. Bei der ersten Anwendung wenig Salbe verwenden, um sicherzustellen, dass die Haut die Salbe verträgt. Wenn bei der Anwendung bei Kindern Fieber oder Atembeschwerden auftreten, wenn der Husten sehr stark oder anhaltend ist, wenn die Symptome der Erkältung anhalten, bei Hautausschlag oder anhaltenden Kopfschmerzen, soll ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin konsultiert werden.
Nicht als festen Verband anlegen; nicht zusammen mit Wärmekissen oder anderer Art von Wärme anwenden.
Nur äusserlich anwenden. Konsultieren Sie sofort einen Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin, wenn Ihr Kind versehentlich Vicks VapoRub verschluckt hat.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Vicks VapoRub sollte in der Schwangerschaft nur mit Vorsicht und nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin angewendet werden. Während der Stillzeit nicht im Bereich der Brust der stillenden Mutter anwenden.
Falls vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin nicht anders verschrieben:
Einreibung: mehrmals pro Tag (2-4 mal) auf Brust, Hals und Rücken verreiben. Kinder über 2 Jahren die Menge eines Teelöffels, Erwachsene die 2-3fache Menge eines Teelöffels.
Nur mit lockerer Kleidung abdecken, damit die Dämpfe gut eingeatmet werden können.
Achtung: Bei Kindern unter 7 Jahren vorsichtig anwenden.
Inhalation: mehrmals pro Tag (2-4 mal) 1 Teelöffel in eine Schüssel mit 1 Liter sehr heissem (nicht kochendem) Wasser geben und Dämpfe vorsichtig 10-15 Minuten lang einatmen. Flüssigkeit nicht wieder erhitzen. Das Wasser niemals in der Mikrowelle erhitzen. Kinder während der Anwendung beaufsichtigen.
Achtung: Für Kinder unter 6 Jahren ist die Inhalation nicht geeignet!
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Vicks VapoRub auftreten:
Gelegentlich wurde über Reizung der Haut oder Augen (Rötung, Juckreiz) oder allergische Reaktionen (Atembeschwerden oder Kontaktekzeme) berichtet. In diesem Fall die Behandlung abbrechen. Wenn die Reizung oder die Rötung der Haut anhalten oder sich gar verschlimmern, konsultieren Sie einen Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Nicht in Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren und bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C lagern).
Aufbrauchfrist nach Anbruch: 3 Monate.
