Visine Classic bewirkt eine Verengung der feinen Blutgefässe in der Bindehaut des Auges und lässt damit die gereizten Schleimhäute des Bindehautsackes abschwellen. Die Wirkung tritt sofort nach dem Einträufeln ins Auge ein und hält 4 bis 6 Stunden an.
Visine Classic dient zur Linderung von leichten Reizungen der Augen. Reizzustände können hervorgerufen werden z.B. durch Rauch, Staub, chloriertes Wasser in Schwimmbädern, Licht, Zugluft, Kosmetika oder Kontaktlinsen. Auf Empfehlung des Arztes, Apothekers oder Drogisten bzw. der Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin kann dieses Präparat auch zur Linderung von übermässigem Tränenfluss bei allergischen Reaktionen verwendet werden.
Visine Classic darf nicht angewendet werden bei Kindern unter zwei Jahren, bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit (Allergie) auf einen oder mehrere Inhaltsstoffe, bei Personen, welche unter Engwinkelglaukom (Grüner Star) leiden, bei Reizzuständen des Auges, welche durch Infektionen oder Fremdkörper verursacht werden sowie bei Irritationen schweren Grades.
Langfristige Anwendung und Überdosierung sind zu vermeiden.
Beim Gebrauch von Augentropfen ist generell folgendes zu beachten: Manchmal werden Rötung oder Reizung durch ernsthaftere Schädigungen des Auges, wie z.B. Infektionen, Fremdkörper oder chemische Einwirkungen auf die Hornhaut verursacht, welche einer Behandlung durch Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin bedürfen. Bei schweren Augenschmerzen, Kopfschmerzen, plötzlicher Änderung Ihres Sehvermögens oder Auftreten von «Mückensehen», plötzlicher Rötung des Auges, Schmerzen bei Lichteinfall oder Doppeltsehen sollte die Anwendung des Produktes abgebrochen und sollten Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen.
Visine Classic soll nur bei leichten unkomplizierten Augenreizungen verwendet werden. Wenn eine Besserung nicht innerhalb von 72 Stunden eintritt oder wenn Reizung und/oder Rötung bestehen bleiben oder sich verstärken, sollte die Anwendung des Produktes abgebrochen und sollten Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen.
Daueranwendung und übermässige Anwendung des Produktes kann zu verstärkter Augenrötung führen.
Die Anwendung des Produktes kann zu einer vorübergehenden Pupillenvergrösserung führen.
Patienten und Patientinnen, die an Diabetes, Schilddrüsenüberfunktion, Bluthochdruck oder an Herzkrankheiten leiden sowie ältere Leute, sollten vor der Anwendung von Visine Classic mit dem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit der Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin darüber sprechen.
Visine Classic kann zu verschwommenem Sehen sowie zu erhöhter Lichtempfindlichkeit führen. Die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, können deshalb beeinträchtigt sein. Erst wenn diese Beeinträchtigung abgeklungen ist, sollen Sie am Strassenverkehr teilnehmen oder Maschinen bedienen.
Das in Visine Classic enthaltene Benzalkoniumchlorid kann Augenreizungen verursachen und weiche Kontaktlinsen verfärben. Deshalb müssen Kontaktlinsen vor dem Einträufeln von Visine Classic entfernt werden und dürfen erst 15 Minuten nach der Instillation wieder eingesetzt werden. Gegebenenfalls ist es besser, während der Behandlung mit Visine Classic die Brille zu tragen.

Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, oder wenn Sie stillen, sollten Sie Visine Classic nur nach Absprache mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin anwenden.
Um eine Verunreinigung der Lösung im Fläschchen zu vermeiden, darf das Endstück der Abtropffläche mit nichts (auch nicht mit dem Auge!) in Berührung kommen. Tropffläschchen nach Gebrauch immer sofort gut verschliessen.
Um eine sterile Anwendung zu garantieren soll für jede Anwendung eine neue Monodosis verwendet werden.
Wenn vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin nicht anders verordnet:
Erwachsene: 1-2 Tropfen 2-3 mal täglich in den Bindehautsack des gereizten Auges träufeln.
Die Anwendung und Sicherheit bei Kindern und Jugendlichen sind bisher nicht geprüft worden.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Visine Classic auftreten:
Bei übermässiger Anwendung (z.B. zu lange dauernde Anwendung oder zu häufiger Gebrauch pro Tag) kann es zu einer Zunahme der Augenrötung kommen.
Es wurde auch von folgenden Nebenwirkungen berichtet:
Brennen in und um die Augen, Schmerzen, Juckreiz, Rötungen, Schwellungen oder Reizungen. Des Weiteren kann Visine Classic eine Erweiterung der Pupille verursachen, was zu verschwommenem Sehen führen kann.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) lagern. Ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren!
Die unangebrochenen Fläschchen bzw. Monodosen dürfen nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Nach Anbruch des Fläschchens soll Visine Classic nicht länger als 4 Wochen verwendet werden. Fläschchen nach Gebrauch sofort wieder gut verschliessen! Eine angebrochene Monodosis ist zum sofortigen Einträufeln bestimmt und soll nicht weiter verwendet werden. Restlösung wegwerfen. Die Lösung sollte entsorgt werden, wenn sich die Farbe verändert hat oder die Lösung trüb geworden ist.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogist bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
1 ml Visine Classic enthält 0.5 mg Tetryzolinhydrochlorid als Wirkstoff sowie die Hilfsstoffe Borsäure, Borax, Natriumchlorid und Wasser.
Visine Classic in der Tropfflasche enthält zudem Natriumedetat und das Konservierungsmittel Benzalkoniumchlorid. Die Monodosen enthalten keine Konservierungsmittel.
