X-Prep Liquid ist ein starkes Abführmittel und dient zur vollständigen Darmentleerung und -reinigung vor Röntgenaufnahmen, endoskopischen Untersuchungen und Operationen im Bauchbereich. Es wird nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet.
Patientinnen und Patienten mit Darmverschluss oder akuten, heftigen Bauchbeschwerden dürfen X-Prep Liquid nicht anwenden.
Bei Überempfindlichkeit auf einen der Inhaltsstoffe (Kaliumsorbat, Vanillin) darf X-Prep Liquid nicht verwendet werden.
X-Prep Liquid enthält Saccharose und ist deshalb für Diabetiker nicht geeignet.
Bei Säuglingen und Kleinkindern nicht anwenden.
Bei Anwendung höherer als der empfohlenen Dosen können Durchfälle mit Wasserverlust und Störungen des salzhaushaltes (insbesondere Kaliumverlust) auftreten. Deshalb ist besondere Vorsicht geboten, falls Sie gleichzeitig bestimmte wassertreibende Medikamente (Diuretika), Arzneimittel mit Süssholzwurzel, Kortikosteroide, gewisse Antihistaminika (wie Terfenadin), Arzneimittel bei Herzmuskelschwäche (Herzglycoside wie Digoxin) oder bestimmte Arzneimittel bei Herzrhythmusstörungen (Antiarrhythmika) einnehmen müssen.
Dieses Arzneimittel enthält 2,75 Vol.-% Alkohol. Bei Beachtung der empfohlenen Dosierung werden bei jeder Einnahme bis zu 1,75 g Alkohol zugeführt. Ein gesundheitliches Risiko besteht u.a. für Leberkranke, Alkoholkranke, Epileptiker, Hirngeschädigte, Schwangere, Stillende sowie für Kinder beim Überschreiten der speziellen Kinderdosis. Die Wirkung anderer Arzneimittel kann verstärkt oder beeinträchtigt werden.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen!
Bei Patientinnen und Patienten mit künstlichem Darmausgang muss X-Prep Liquid vorsichtig angewendet werden. Der Arzt oder die Ärztin wird Sie entsprechend informieren.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an andern Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Obwohl keine wehenauslösende Wirkung festgestellt werden konnte, sollte die Indikation bei Schwangeren und Stillenden streng gestellt werden. Informieren Sie deshalb den verschreibenden Arzt bzw. die verschreibende Ärztin, falls Sie schwanger sind oder stillen.
X-Prep Liquid darf in der Stillzeit angewendet werden. Der Wirkstoff in X-Prep Liquid geht nur zu geringen Teilen in die Muttermilch über und es sind keine Stuhlveränderungen beim Säugling festzustellen.

Soweit nicht anders verschrieben, nehmen Erwachsene den gesamten Inhalt der Portionenflasche ein. Dazu sollte reichlich Wasser nachgetrunken werden (siehe unten).
Bei älteren oder kreislauflabilen Patientinnen und Patienten wird der Arzt oder die Ärztin die Dosis entsprechend dem Allgemeinzustand verringern.
Für Kinder ab 6 Jahren und unter- oder leichtgewichtige Patientinnen oder Patienten wird der Arzt oder die Ärztin eine vom Körpergewicht abhängige Dosis verschreiben (1 ml/kg Körpergewicht).
Falls Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin Sie nicht anders instruiert, sollten Sie X-Prep Liquid wie folgt anwenden:
Morgens normales, leichtes Frühstück.
Mittags leichte, fettfreie Kost, z.B. klare Bouillon, Tee oder Kaffee (ohne Milch), keine Fruchtsäfte.
Um 14.00 Uhr Inhalt der Portionenflasche resp. verschriebene Menge X-Prep Liquid einnehmen und ein grosses Glas Mineralwasser nachtrinken. Keine Fruchtsäfte, keine Milch. Danach bis zum Schlafengehen stündlich ein grosses Glas Mineralwasser oder Tee trinken (mind. 2 l Flüssigkeit).
Die abführende Wirkung von X-Prep Liquid setzt nach ca. 5?8 Std. ein.
Nach der Einnahme von X-Prep Liquid bis zur Untersuchung sollte nichts mehr gegessen werden.
Morgens kein Frühstück. Falls notwendig dürfen bis zu ca. 2 Stunden vor der Untersuchung 1?2 Tassen Tee oder Mineralwasser getrunken werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von X-Prep Liquid auftreten:
Es kann häufig zu Bauchschmerzen, gelegentlich zu Nesselsucht, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Verfärbung des Stuhls, des Harns oder bei stillenden Frauen der Muttermilch, Irritation oder Blutung im Analbereich, Hautausschlag und sehr selten zu Leberfunktionsstörungen, zum Kollaps oder zur Austrocknung kommen. Selten können Bauchkrämpfe, sehr selten allergische Reaktionen mit Schock oder schweren Hauterscheinungen sowie Atemnot oder Asthmaanfall auftreten.
Bei älteren, geschwächten, sowie unter- oder leichtgewichtigen Patientinnen und Patienten besteht die Gefahr eines Flüssigkeitsverlustes. Diese Nebenwirkungen können bei Einhalten der vorgeschriebenen, reichlichen Flüssigkeitszufuhr weitgehend vermieden werden.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

Im Kühlschrank (2?8 °C) lagern.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
1 Flasche zu 75 ml enthält 1,5?2,2 g standardisierten Trockenextrakt aus Alexandriner-Sennesfrüchten (Droge-Extrakt-Verhältnis 3?5:1), entsprechend 150 mg Sennosid B. Auszugsmittel: Wasser.
Dieses Präparat enthält: 49,5 g Saccharose (4,16 Broteinheiten), 2,75 Vol.-% Alkohol, Konservierungsmittel Kaliumsorbat (E 202), Aromastoffe, Vanillin sowie weitere Hilfsstoffe.
