Xefo Filmtabletten enthalten den Wirkstoff Lornoxicamum, der über starke schmerzlindernde und entzündungshemmende Eigenschaften verfügt.
Xefo wird bei entzündlichen und degenerativen Erkrankungen des Bewegungsapparates eingesetzt, wie z.B. bei Arthritis und Arthrosen.
Xefo Filmtabletten dürfen nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes/der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Xefo darf nicht eingenommen werden,
Während der Behandlung mit Xefo können im oberen Magen-Darm-Trakt Schleimhautgeschwüre, selten Blutungen oder in Einzelfällen Perforationen (Magen-, Darmdurchbrüche) auftreten. Diese Komplikationen können während der Behandlung jederzeit ohne Warnsymptome auftreten. Um dieses Risiko zu verringern, verschreibt Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin Ihnen die kleinste wirksame Dosis während der kürzest möglichen Therapiedauer. Wenden Sie sich an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie Magenschmerzen haben und einen Zusammenhang mit der Einnahme des Arzneimittels vermuten.
Für gewisse Schmerzmittel, die sogenannten COX-2-Hemmer, wurde unter hohen Dosierungen und/oder Langzeitbehandlung ein erhöhtes Risiko für Herzinfarkt und Schlaganfall festgestellt. Ob dieses erhöhte Risiko auch für Xefo zutrifft, ist noch nicht bekannt. Falls Sie bereits einen Herzinfarkt, Schlaganfall oder eine Venenthrombose hatten, oder falls Sie Risikofaktoren haben (wie hoher Blutdruck, Diabetes (Zuckerkrankheit), hohe Blutfettwerte, Rauchen), wird Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin entscheiden, ob Sie Xefo trotzdem anwenden können. Informieren Sie in jedem Fall Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin darüber.
Die Einnahme von Xefo kann die Funktion Ihrer Nieren beeinträchtigen, was zu einer Erhöhung des Blutdrucks und/oder zu Flüssigkeitsansammlungen (Ödemen) führen kann. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie herzkrank oder nierenkrank sind, falls Sie Arzneimittel gegen Bluthochdruck (z.B. harntreibende Mittel, ACE-Hemmer) einnehmen oder bei einem erhöhten Flüssigkeitsverlust, z.B. durch starkes Schwitzen.
Wenn Sie jemals Magendarmgeschwüre oder Blutungen hatten, oder wenn Sie schon älter oder geschwächt sind, ist Vorsicht geboten. Ebenfalls ist Vorsicht geboten, wenn gleichzeitig zur Xefo-Therapie die folgenden Arzneimittel eingenommen werden: Mittel zur Blutverdünnung (Antikoagulantien), Tabletten gegen Zuckerkrankheit, andere Schmerzmittel, Lithium, Digoxin, Herzmittel.
Eventuell muss der Arzt/die Ärztin die Dosis dieser Arzneimittel anpassen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) anwenden!
Sollten Sie schwanger sein oder eine Schwangerschaft planen, sollten Sie Xefo nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin einnehmen. Im letzten Drittel der Schwangerschaft darf Xefo nicht eingenommen werden.
Xefo sollte während der Stillzeit nicht eingenommen werden, ausser Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin hat es Ihnen ausdrücklich erlaubt.
Für Patienten über 18 Jahren. Normalerweise liegen die empfohlenen Tagesdosen zwischen 8 und 16 mg Lornoxicam täglich.

Die Filmtabletten sollen vor den Mahlzeiten unzerkaut mit reichlich Flüssigkeit eingenommen werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Xefo auftreten:
Oberbauchschmerzen, Durchfall, Schwindel, Verdauungsstörungen, Kopfschmerzen, Übelkeit und Erbrechen.
Störungen des Magendarm-, Leber- und Gallensystems, Störungen der Haut wie Hautausschlag, Hautentzündungen.
Selten Störungen des zentralen und peripheren Nervensystems wie Migräne, Geschmacksstörungen, Schwitzen, Beinkrämpfe, Schlaflosigkeit, Müdigkeit.
Vereinzelt Seh- und Hörstörungen, Brustschmerzen.
Xefo kann Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen der Haut- und Atmungsorgane auslösen, insbesondere bei Patienten mit Asthma, Nesselfieber (chronischer Urticaria) oder mit Überempfindlichkeit auf Acetylsalicylsäure und andere Rheuma- und Schmerzmittel (siehe auch unter «Wann darf Xefo nicht angewendet werden?»).
Sollte eine Magen- oder Darmblutung auftreten, dann muss Xefo sofort abgesetzt und der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin informiert werden. Sollten während der Behandlung Halsbeschwerden (Angina), hohes Fieber, eventuell auch eine Anschwellung der Lymphknoten in der Halsregion auftreten (ein sehr selten beobachtetes Krankheitsbild) sowie bei Schmerzen im Oberbauch und/oder Schwarzfärbung des Stuhls, ist das Arzneimittel abzusetzen und sofort der Arzt/die Ärztin aufzusuchen.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C), vor Licht geschützt und ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
